Chapter Fifty Three

As what Emi promised, she stayed a little bit longer in Pilar just to be with Cley a bit more. Tatlong araw siyang namalagi sa bahay nito na hindi umuuwi sa sarili nilang bahay pero hindi man lang siya hinananap ng parents niya o pinauwi man lang. She concluded they already knew where she was and she was with him.

That three days gone passed and they decided to go meet her parents to finally announced their engagement. Kasama niya doon si Maria at ang pinsan nitong France upang ihatid na rin ang magandang balita.

Cley was a nervous. Very nervous. It was sudden and for sure, they would not allow it as Emi's still studying. Napakabata pa rin nito para magpakasal at kung mangayari mang tumutol sila ay rerespetuhin niya ang mga desisyon nito hanggang sa kailan nila ibibigay ang basbas sa kanya.

"Pasok kayo" Emi's mom greeted them with a smile.

"Are you okay, Cley?"

"Yeah."

"But your hand is sweating" Emi laughed.

Cley swore, he never this terrified in his entire life. The day Emi when was abducted might be first but it faded since he's confident he can protect her for that to ever happen again but right now, whatever happened is like he depend most his life on it. Hindi naman masasamang tao ang mga magulang at kapatid niya ngunit ni isang beses hindi pa niya nakakausap ang mga ito ng masinsinan.

Nakaupo silang lahat sa living area. Nakangiti naman lahat maliban kay Craig na seryusonh seryuso ang mukha pero panay ang galaw ng mga binti at hita ni Cley so sobrang tensyo'ng nararamdaman. He cannot lose Emi. He'll do everything to make sure they allow him to take their precious daughter with him, and love her the rest of his life.

Si Emi naman ay panay tawa lang sa kwentuhan at usapa nila pero ang totoo ay mas kinakabahan pa ito keysa kay Cley. Minsan ay naiilang siyang makita ng pamilya niyang lambingin si Cley dahil nawawala siya minsan sa isip at nagiging malambing siya dito. Sa tanang buhay niya ay wala pa siyang naidalang lalake sa bahay nila lalong lalo na bilang isang kasintahan. Tatanggapin kaya nila si Cley kahit na napakadumi ng nakaraan nito bilang isang babaero, walang pakealam at walang direksyon sa buhay?

"Cley, anak. Ipalagay mo na ang totoong pakay mo kung bakit nandito tayo." Maria interrupted their fun conversation dahil kanina pa ito tahimik at hindi mapakali.

Cley looked at Emi's bloomy face first and smiled at him as a signal.

"Y-yeah." umikhim siya. "Mr. and Mrs. Naoi....I would like to....Uhm, ask your blessi——"

"——I am marrying, Cley." napahigpit ang hawak ni Emi sa kamay ni Cley habang nakaharap sa mga magulang niya. Lahat sila ay gulat na gulat na halos hindi makapagsalita. Emi let go of Cley's hand to show them her ring as her tears started to flow. "I...I said yes...and, next year, will be the wedding." Emi sighed as her mom started to tear up while her dad was just speechless like Craig. "Mom, dad, I know you've been telling me to choose someone I love, and the person will surely take good care of me. I appreciate all your support and understanding. And now," sniffed. "I wholeheartedly let you know that Cley I only think of a person who can fulfill that. Mahal na mahal ko po siya."

Cley looked down, let his tears fell too habang nilalaro laro ang mga daliri nito sa kamay ni Emi na kakahawak niya lang. This is just to dreamy for him, to have Emi. Kahit na puno ng pag-alinlangan at pangamba ang puso't isip niya, Emi with him will be his defense.

"Kuya Craig." Emi's voice cracked and Craig now is starting to be emotional. His little sister, his best critique and enemy, will is now engaged. After all, he knew the both of them, how they loves each other. Amongst the people, he is the one's more convinced. He could no argue more. Emi's in good hands.
