Husk POV
Alastor and I get back to the Casino a few hours later to find Rosie, the overlord of Cannibal Town.
"Ah! There you two are, look at you, hanging out just like old times!" She pulls me into a hug.
We pull away and we give our normal greetings, "Hey Rosie, Al?" They stop talking and look at me, "Meet me in my office? I have to talk to you about something." They share a glance.
"Of course Husk, we'll be right up!" I smile in relief at Rosie.
I nod and turn around to go to the bar on the third floor. I've been having trouble being able to keep the Casino open because of not having enough employees. I may be an overlord but I have yet to even get close to the amount of souls that you usually need to become one.
I hate to make deals, but I really need to talk to Al about getting more power to get more souls under my control. He and Rosie have always helped me without much trouble before... so why do I have such a bad feeling about asking for their help and creating a deal?
I grab a drink and make my way to the employee elevator that leads up to my office and room. I go in to find Alastor and Rosie there already.
Rosie, being the motherly figure that she is, steps forward worry in her voice, "Are you alright? What do you need?"
I smile softly, "I'm fine, I just need to ask a favor."
Alastor's eyes narrow. "What is it?"
"I- I need more help..." the two overlords look confused, "I mean, I need to help to run the casino. It's growing so fast and Rosie, I know your cannibals need to go back soon."
They nod along slowly. "So you need to find more people to do your bidding," Alastor says thoughtfully.
"I just need to do something to get more."
That's when Rosie and Alastor talk excitedly to each other, "This is it! You're finally, officially going to become an actual overlord!"
"Yes, but I need more power, people aren't just going to give me their souls." I need to make a deal. My plan runs through my head multiple times, although no matter how many times, I still have a bad feeling about it. Rosie and Alastor seem to have an idea, perhaps they have a deal I can make!
Alastor rolls his eyes, "You don't ask for their souls flat out like that." I open my mouth to propose my idea but he cuts me off, "You gamble for them."
That is completely different from what I was thinking of doing.
"But—!"
"It doesn't have to be like you're tricking them, Husk, you can give them a choice." Rosie cuts me off.
"A choice?" Rosie smiles and nods. "...how?"
Al rolls his eyes, "you figure it out, it's your casino."
Rosie hugs me. "I'm glad you're finally asking for our help again! We still owe you so much!" I squeeze her tighter.
"Thanks again, Rose."
They leave me to myself in my office.
"Ugh, I need to sit down." Suddenly a spout of nausea comes and I have to sit down. When I do, I pass out.
~~~
Rosie and Alastor are talking to each other as I head into my office. "Husk! There you are, are you okay?" Rosie asks, worry present in her voice.
