Angel Dust POV
I watch anxiously from the side. I pull my legs up to my chest and hug my two pairs of arms around them. Husk looks over at me a few times throughout the game, his golden eyes burning into my body.
After half an hour I rest my face on my legs, ugh, this is taking forever! I've never played or gambled at a casino before and I have no idea what's happening. As much as I want to be out of Valentino's hands... how do I know if Husk will be any better?
Sure, he seems to treat his employees well, but is that just an act? Is the concerned glances he gives me when he thinks I'm not looking, real? Besides, even if he is good and wins, I would only be in his care for a few days at most. This all depends on how long it takes to build this machine which I've never heard about.
One of the casino's waitresses brings me a plate of antipasto salad. I only take a few bites before pushing it away. The waitress that brought it to me takes it, "Did it taste okay? I've never made an Italian dish before-"
Wo-Kay, this woman is insecure, "It tastes great, don't worry yourself about it, girly." I give her a sweet smile and she sighs in relief.
She leaves with the tray and I look through my phone. I click on a notification that automatically brings me to the 666 news and I see the table that Husk and Val are playing on. Right, it's life. I almost laugh, they watch everything that has anything to do with two big overlords.
The game goes on for another forty-five minutes and I grab a bag that I brought. I take out some red nail polish. Naveah pulls a chair to sit beside me, and I grab her right hand.
"Is this aloud?" She whispers and I chuckle.
I take out the brush, wiping off some excess on the rim before sliding the brush over her nails.
"Why wouldn't it be? We're doing what most people would do in a time like this." I can tell that she's upset and as I try to cheer her up, her expression lightens when I finish the one hand.
She holds it up to get a better look at it, "this looks good!"
I give her a look, "it's only one coat... I haven't even done the details yet. Now don't ruin it!"
She smiles, embarrassed, "Sorry."
I finish the other hand and put the red polishing away. I rummage through my bag, grabbing some white.
.
I finished both Naveah and my nails quickly and it wasn't until an hour later Valentino almost stormed out.
"What the hell is this!" I flinch as he slams his hand of cards on the table.
Husk looks calm and collected as ever, watching both his cards and his opponent carefully, taking in every detail that might give Val away. I rest my chin on my hand as I watch Husk lay his cards in the last round of at least fifteen.
Valentino huffs as he slams his cards on the table.
With how the game went, they also decided to bet money as well, and Ferra slid the chips all to Husk. Then, as soon as Ferra takes the cards back, the red chain, that goes from my neck to Val's hand, fades, getting replaced with a shining gold one that reflects the light, it's mesmerizing. The chain goes to Husk's hand to my neck while in the other; an hourglass takes the space.
