A/N: Welcome to a new chapter that I'm glad I continued with! Enjoy what I hope is a wonderful delight of a read!
The reporters were told to stay on the first floor or, as long as they were out of the way and not interrupting, they could go elsewhere. I have Misty, Emery, and a few guards keeping a close eye on all of them so they don't get touchy.
Most overlords or higher hellborns have to stay on the first and second floors, while the more important ones, like Alastor, Carmilla Carmine, the Vees, I, and their companions, can go up to the third floor.
I have a long, curving table that is by the opening in the floor for everyone to sit and eat.
Most overlords bring their companions so, sadly for me, that means Angel Dust as well. I sigh, but he doesn't even acknowledge me as he rushes over to meet Charlie who is with Vaggie and Nifty.
My brows furrow, I hadn't known that they would be coming.
Charlie spots me immediately and waves. I give her a nod when the group all turns to look at me. I head over to Carmilla per request as she greets me with, "Husk. Thank you for hosting." I take a sip of my drink and she motions around, "good to see that you're finally making use of everything that I had made for you."
I put on a smile, "haven't needed them for much."
She nods slowly, "of course, you grew up so fast that we just haven't had enough meetings with you."
Our conversation ends when Carmilla's daughters come over, and after a quick greeting, they bid goodbyes and head elsewhere in the casino.
The party carries on for a few hours and it's going great.
Until...
I don't even flinch as a loud crash sounds from a floor down. I go over to see the commotion and find that one of the lesser overlords is messing with Riya. Miya tries to stop the demon but is no use as he forcefully pushes her around.
That's when the lights start flickering and turning bright before shutting off on repeat. My eye twitches and everyone turns to look at me.
I jump over the railing, using my wings to move air around me so I don't fall.
I land between the girls and the kangaroo demon, spreading my wings wide as to protect the twins. Poison leaks from my hands and eyes as if I'm crying.
The demon falls, cowering back in fear. He screams when poison crawls up his arms burning his flesh.
While poison seeps through his skin, "what made you think that you could mess with my casino." My words come out like a hiss, and I grab the collar of his shirt, poison leaking down the front of his chest. I can feel my power penetrating the lights and electricity so I throw him harshly back to the ground, calming myself.
I snap my fingers and two guards, Raymond and Hilda, grab the demon, dragging him away. Some maidens {A/N: That sounds like it's the 1800's} clean up.
My gaze sweeps across the crowd, my eyes connect with Alastor, whose smirk widens in amusement, and also Angel. Some demons laugh nervously even though it doesn't look like it, while others aren't able to laugh as what they witnessed could happen to any of them if they misbehave.
I don't say anything, just nod curtly as I fly back up to the floor. My wings are starting to cramp a little from all of the use I've put on them but I ignore it.
Conversation starts back up quickly and I see Rosie joined the group of Alastor, Vox, and Velvette. "That was fucking funny, Hellebore." Vox and Velvette laugh, Rosie and Alastor share an amused glance.
