Misty served as the battle's judge. Ash and Pikachu would watch from the sidelines. He was eager to finally see May and Drew's strongest Pokémon in action against each other. No doubt, It would be a battle for the ages.

Blaziken flashed a cocky smile at Typhlosion. It defeated Typhlosion before, and it would do it again. Typhlosion snarled in response. It would not have a repeat of the last time they fought. May and Drew had battle-ready faces. Both had their minds set on victory.

"Let's have a good battle, Drew," the brunette gave him a cocky smile.

"How about a memorable one?" the emerald-eyed coordinator gave her a sly smirk. May agreed smugly.

"Let the battle begin!" Misty lowered her arms.

"Here we go!" Ash cheered. Pikachu focused his eyes on Drew. The mouse continued to think about the awful vibe Drew gave.

"Typhlosion, start with Dig!" the coordinator called out.

His Volcano Pokémon dug underground and started moving toward Blaziken while Blaziken tried to detect signs of Typhlosion's whereabouts.

"Blaziken, hone your hearing and feel the vibrations underneath you," the coordinator commanded.

May's Pokémon nodded. Drew cunningly smiled as Blaziken felt tremors under its feet. The Blaze Pokémon could hear the sound of pebbles shaking and Typhlosion clawing through the dirt. Suddenly, Blaziken sensed a swift movement behind him.

"Let Blaziken have it," the green-eyed coordinator snapped his fingers.

Typhlosion fired a Fire Blast, but May knew how to respond. "Blaziken, use Sky Uppercut!"

Thanks to its fiery resistance, Blaziken cut through the Fire Blast and sent Typhlosion flying. Before it fell to the ground, Typhlosion regained its composure and used Rollout. The technique immediately caught May and Blaziken off guard. Blaziken growled in pain as it hit the floor.

"Typhlosion doesn't need me to send out a command. He knows what to do in a given situation just like I taught him," the LaRousse boy explained to the Petalburg girl.

His brunette rival frowned. May wouldn't allow him to feel in control of the battle. Blaziken stood back up after shaking off the attack. "Flamethrower, let's go!" the Petalburg coordinator made her move.

Drew smirked, "Use Defense Curl!" The Flamethrower hit Typhlosion, but Defense Curl dispersed the flames into nothing. Suddenly, Drew felt a shock travel up his spine. His eyes turned from green to black, and a dark aura circled Drew's body for a moment, then vanished. The coordinator's tone became aggressive. "Now, roll out again!"

May raised her eyebrows when she noticed the temporary change in Drew, but as soon as he attacked, she refocused on the battle. However, Misty, Ash, and Pikachu also noticed the odd phenomenon. Misty didn't like the look in his eyes. She started to get the sense that something was wrong.

"Pikachu, did you see that?" Ash asked with a perplexed expression. He didn't understand what just occurred.

"Pika," the little mouse nodded sternly. Pikachu stood on all fours. It was ready for anything if it was necessary.

After Blaziken narrowly dodged Rollout, Typhlosion tried again. "Rollout!" Drew repeated his offense.

May had to think fast. She was depleting Blaziken's stamina by constantly having him dodge Rollout. She clenched her teeth until she thought of a counter against Rollout, "Halt it with Mega Kick!"

Blaziken's foot started glowing blue as it launched itself toward the Rollout. At that very moment, Blaziken's Mega Kick stopped the Rollout from rolling and sent Typhlosion flying back, but not before the Volcano Pokémon went underground again.
