Ryder and Conner are born, and Aqua performs a spell to protect them from the darkness. As the boys grow up Kairi worries about whether the spell worked. Later, Kairi discovers that Ryder's heart is consumed by darkness, so she uses her Keyblade to banish it to the dark realm to protect her children.

Ryder (11) and Sora are sitting on the Pou Pou fruit tree eating sea salt Ice cream as they look into the starry night sky. "Hey, Dad? Where do stars come from?" Ryder curiously looks at his father Sora. "Well..some people say that they're just burning balls of gas." Sora smiles as he looks at his son. "Stars are also the lights in people's hearts far away..." Sora gently smiles as he stares at his son. "Every star...is a heart?" Ryder says curiously as he looks up into the night sky.

"That right! They're so bright and pure that they could be seen from a different world" Sora smiles at Ryder. All of a sudden it starts raining black water all over the island. "rain?... That's strange" Sora has a confused face as he watches the raindrops slowly form into a humanoid figure wearing a black coat. Sora's eyes widen and jumps back spawning his Keyblade. "YOU!? ARE YOU PART OF THE ORGANIZATION!?" Sora shields Ryder and points his Keyblade at him. "don't play dumb.." the mysterious man speaks that sounds like the voices of Xemnas, Emnas, and Young Xehanort. "we have risen from the dark realm from where you sent us..." the mysterious man approaches them slowly.

"We have come to seek revenge...not just against you...but against the worlds filled with light..." The Mysterious man holds his arm out spawning No Name (Old Xehanorts) and dashes towards Sora and they clash. "AH! RYDER! RUN!" Sora fights with the mysterious figure as Ryder rushes away into the house. "MOM! MOM! DAD IS DANGER!" Kairi stands in shock as she watches Sora fight a man in a black coat. "HURRY THIS WAY!" Kairi grabs Ryder and Conner as they run into a small room behind vines with a door.

"MOM WHATS HAPPENING!?" Conner looks around scaredly as Kairi points her Keyblade towards a large door and it opens. "You'll be safe here!" Kairi takes off her necklace and wraps it around Conner's neck. "I love you..." Kairi kisses Ryder and Conner before sending off to the Realm
Of Light. "HOW DID THEY FIND US!?" Sora shoots a beam of light at the mysterious man but dodges it and shoots large glaciers at Sora but he slices them. "KAIRI!" Sora shouts and Kairi flies into the battle and kicks the man away. Sora surprise attacks the man and shoots him with a large fireball.

"I may have underestimated you...we'll be back..." the man says in a dark deep voice as he walks backward into the water turning it pitch black as he sinks in without leaving a trace. Sora looks back at Kairi and hugs her. "Did they make it?" Sora looks at Kairi with a sad and nervous face. "Yes...and they are safe" Kairi softly kisses Sora's forehead. "It's time..." Sora nods his head and points his Keyblade in the air along with Kairis and they shoot a beam Of light into the air, rearranging the stars in the sky to form a Keyblade. "May your hearts...be your guiding keys" Sora and Kairi say in unison as they look up into the night sky.
