Mobius went to the archives of the TVA. He wouldn't attract much attention there.

He looked around to make sure he was alone, then he rounded a corner to go in between two filing cabinets. Hesitantly, he opened up Ravonna's TemPad.

Not only could TemPad transport anywhere and when in time, but it could also record things like trials and meetings. It was only ever really useful to judges, but right now, it was Mobius's best shot at finding out what happened to C-20.

He clicked on C-20's file and a video started playing on the TemPad's screen.

"You're not hearing me." C-20 said. "I was there. This was real, what I saw. This is a place that I've been."

She didn't seem frantic at all. A little shocked, yes, but other than that she was completely calm. She was speaking clearly. She seemed fine.

"This wasn't the TVA." She went on. "This was a memory. I lived down there. I went to that bar. I had friends. I had a whole life on the Sacred Timeline."

"Calm down." Her interrogator told her.

"'Calm down'?" C-20 repeated. "I'm a Variant! So are you. So is every single person in this place!"

"I'm ending this." A sharp voice cut through the audio.

It was Ravonna's.

Ravonna walked towards C-20 and the video stopped.

Mobius stood there, speechless. C-20's words replayed over and over in his mind.

I'm a Variant.

I'm a Variant.

I'm a Variant.

You're a Variant.

The truth struck Mobius as quickly as a bolt of lightning. He didn't want to believe it, but it was right in front of him. Ravonna had lied to him. His friend had lied to him. After all they had been through, she betrayed him. She knew the truth, and she didn't do anything.

I'm a Variant. Mobius thought. I'M A VARIANT.

Mobius's stomach twisted as he accepted the truth. But then he felt resolve. Calm, despite all the quiet chaos happening around him. Like he had finally found a missing piece of a puzzle.

Loki was right. He was right all along.

Loki.

He needed to get Loki. He needed to get Sylvie. They needed to bring an end to this mess.

So, with a newfound determination, Mobius went off to find his friend.

Loki's cheek was bruised now. Sif had hit him in the same spot countless times.

"I've heard it a thousand times." He said, panting for breath. "'You. You conniving, craven, pathetic worm. You did this.'"

You did this.

Preparing for another punch, Loki turned towards the door of the room. Only, it wasn't Sif that came through the door.

It was Mobius.

"What are you doing?" He asked. He sounded panicked.

"Passing the time." Answered Loki.

"Do you care about her?" Asked Mobius.

"Sylvie?" Said Loki. "I don't know. What do you think?"

"Shut up!" Mobius hissed, already having enough of his sarcasm. "Do you really believe you deserve to be alone?"
