Ravonna didn't have time for this.
She was sorry for pruning Mobius, but she did what she had to do for the stability of the TVA. She didn't regret it, and she would do it again if she had to.
But right now, she needed to leave.
"I think people are ready to hear a little truth now." Said Mobius. "You know, like the TVA is a lie."
"But what if it's a necessary one?" Ravonna argued. "Someone created the Time-Keepers. They created this whole place. They gave us all purpose. I have to believe they had a reason."
"No," Mobius said, "because I've seen the horror waiting for people when they get pruned and there's nothing necessary about that."
"You know what would happen if we didn't prune the Timeline?" Ravonna asked. "Chaos. Death."
"Free will?" Mobius countered.
"Free will?" Ravonna scoffed. "Only one person gets free will. The one in charge."
Ravonna turned back to her desk to finish packing. She needed to go.
"'Friends across time, allies to the end.'" Mobius whispered.
Ravonna remembered when she said that to him. That felt like ages ago.
"Shut up." She muttered.
"That was so beautiful." He said. "And then you sent me to die. What happened to you?"
"Nothing, Mobius." She replied. "I didn't change."
"You didn't change?" Said Mobius. "You betrayed me."
"No, no. You betrayed me!" She seethed, whipping back around to face him. "I looked out for you, hung my neck out for you, and you suffer a crisis of faith and turn to those Variants? Eons of friendship. And you threw it all away on a couple of Lokis. No, Mobius. I didn't betray you."
"It's complicated." Said Mobius. "And she's not a Loki."
"What? She's Sylvie?" Ravonna scoffed. "Give me a break. That Variant is the worst thing that's happened to us. She thinks that cosmic disappointments like her should have lives, so she made the TVA erupt into chaos all because of a lie. A lie you seem to believe."
"We can't take away people's free will, Ravonna," Mobius said firmly. "Do you not see that?"
She ignored him as she grabbed her TemPad, ready to open a door.
"What are you doing?" He asked her.
"What I need to do." She replied.
A Time Door appeared in front of her.
It's time, dear, the man's voice came through her head again, for a new empire to rise.
"Wait, stop." Said Mobius. "Look, maybe we can build this into something better together."
"I'm sorry, Mobius." Said Ravonna.
"I'm not going to let you go." He warned her, turning on his pruner.
"Please, Mobius," Ravonna murmured. "Even with that you're of no danger to me."
"Is that what you think?" He asked.
He charged towards her, preparing to attack, but Ravonna was ready for him. With one move, she ripped the pruner out of his hands and knocked him to the ground. She threw his pruner to the side, taking out her new one.
"That isn't a normal pruner," Mobius commented. He looked up at her, and Ravonna could see fear in his eyes. "What are you gonna do?" He asked her.
She turned back to her desk, ignoring him as she grabbed her things.
