Loki followed Mobius out of the Time Cell. They sat down at the table, right back where they started.

"Fancy technology." Said Loki. "Threatening interrogation tactics. Seems you and I are in a loop of our own."

"Well, there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then," Mobius replied.

"Certainly has." Loki agreed.

"Okay," said Mobius, "you said that the TVA is lying to me. Go ahead. Or is that just a cockroach's survival mechanism kicking in?"

"Let me out of this place, stop beating me up, take me to Sylvie, and I'll tell you," Loki said.

"Cockroach," Mobius muttered. "Got it. How long have you been working for the Variant?"

"She isn't a Variant, Mobius," Loki said, sounding irritated, but he didn't raise his voice.

"Well then, who is she?" Mobius probed.

"Have you been deaf this whole time?" Loki asked. "She's Sylvie. Surely you must know who that is."

"How do you know that she isn't a Variant though?" Mobius argued, challenging him. "Just because she might not be a Variant of you doesn't mean she isn't a Variant at all. She could be manipulating you. She knows you'll do anything to get her back."

"Yes, Mobius. I have considered this possibility." Loki told him. "But Sylvie wouldn't betray me, whatever version she happened to be. That's not who she is."

"You're forgetting that you haven't seen her in years." Mobius pointed out. "People change."

"Not her," Loki said firmly. "I've seen her memories. She remembers me. She knows me. We know each other."

"Now we're getting somewhere." Said Mobius. "How did you see her memories? How long have you been working for the Variant?"

Loki fell silent. This was all just a way to get information out of him. A clever move, Loki had to admit, but it wouldn't work anymore. Besides, Mobius wouldn't be convinced, no matter what he said.

So Loki leaned back in his chair, folded his arms across his chest, and fixed Mobius with a hard and unwavering stare. He wasn't going to break.

"Well, if you're working for her, then that would make you guys partners," Mobius guessed, "and you don't do partners unless it benefits you and you intend to betray them at some point."

"I wouldn't betray her," Loki said.

Loki didn't know if Sylvie could even take a betrayal after all that she'd been through. Especially from him. Besides, if he did betray her, she'd probably kick his a*s

"Oh really?" Mobius questioned. "Like you wouldn't betray me?"

"That's different, Mobius." Said Loki. "I've only known you for a short time. I've known her for years. Besides, I didn't know she was going to pull me through the Time Door."

"Then why didn't you capture her?" Mobius pressed.

"Because she explained everything to me," Loki replied. "She told me that my memories were hers, too."

"She could be lying to you." Said Mobius.

"I know she wouldn't," Loki replied. "Just as I'm not lying to you right now."

"Then why don't you just tell me what caused the nexus event on Lamentis?" Asked Mobius, frustration in his tone.

"Let me say this again," Loki said. "I'm not going to tell you just so you can turn around immediately afterward and prune me."
