Pride

A/N- In honor of the decision for same-sex marriage across the US

This was it. 

Today is the day.

Today they were going to announce  the Supreme Court's decision on same-sex marriage.

They day started out with a pride parade all throughout Lawrence. It started at our university and ended all the way across town.  Once we reached the end, they were going to announce the news.

Castiel, my boyfriend, can't wait for the decision. All decked out in bright colors, Cas looks like a unicorn threw up on him. He's jumping in place and searching over heads in the crowd, looking for Charlie and Gilda. Sam and Gabe are already here, also searching for the pair. 

Then, Cas starts waving his hands, "Charlie! Gilda! Over here!"

I turn to the direction he was yelling at and see the two girls in just as much rainbow colors as Cas. They make it over and hugs are exchanged between the group. 

A few minutes of talking have gone by and finally a voice comes over the speakers, announcing the the parade was about to begin. 

People start walking and soon enough, there were hundreds of people walking through Lawrence looking like rainbows. There was laughter and smiles all around. About half way through the walk, Charlie stopped and pulled out her phone.

"Selfie!" 

Everybody got in front of the camera for the picture. When we were done and looking at it, we saw the an older man had photo bombed us. He was wearing a yellow face paint and was holding up a peace sign. We all laughed and carried on with the parade.

At the end, everybody crowded around a stage with a young looking man standing on it. 

"Hello everybody!", the man says in a cheery voice. "My name is Gerard and I would like to thank you for precipitating in this years Annual Pride Festival!" 

Gerard holds up a envelope, "In my hand, I hold the decision to same-sex marriage all across the USA. The decision was made a few minutes before our arrival." 

"Now, who would like me to open this envelope?!" The crowd goes crazy. Gerard tears open the envelope and looks at the paper inside. He keeps a straight face the whole time.

"The decision is...." Gerard draws out. He smiles, "same-sex marriage has been legalized in all states!

Everybody cheers, claps, hugs, and just downright celebrates. I grab Cas and pull him to my chest. I lean down and capture his lips with mine in a passionate kiss. When we break apart for air, we look over and see Charlie and Sam doing the same to their respective lovers. 

I look at Cas and see him smiling. Not one of his casual smiles, but one that stretches from ear to ear. I lean down and kiss him again. 

I can't wait for tonight's celebrations. ; )
