So on Monday it was my cousins wedding. I've been pretty busy since then which means no updates, so I will try to add 2-3 chapters today.
My cousin is a Christian and her father (my moms brother) is the preacher so they are a very devout family, she is 19 and we are sorta close but not really as (because of the separate churches) we run in different circles. Their church literally has something going on 5 nights a week, that's crazy!!!! I love my religion an all but I don't think god would want us to be that busy all the time to the point where the children have no social life. Anyways, the service was 3 freakin hours long. If you don't realize how long that is, the bridal party had to sit down. The two churches are very split and there isn't a lot of mingling between the Guate Catholic Church and the Guate Christian Church so only 4 families came from church. I wasn't a bridesmaid or anything so I sat with my boyfriend an his family as my mom was bringing the pillows to kneel on up to the front. In this wedding, there is this part where te bride an groom kneel and basically there is this white knot/rope thing wrapped around them basically tying them together. I didn't really understand this because they were speaking a different Mayan dialect then the one I speak so it was pretty Confusing. After the service we all went downstairs then had food and hung out. Their religion however, does not permit dancing so there was none. Everybody keeps asking me and Zack (my bf) when we are getting married an it is literally so awkward omg haha.

We left like 3 hours early to go to San Pedro celebration and it was so much fun! Basically, it's a festival with dancing for Saint peter the patron saint Of my village. We dance the marimba and all the women wear the cortes and the men wear their Gaucho clothing ( cowboy). In Monday it lasted from 8 to 10 but there was a second night on Tuesday that lasted from 9 until 3 am. Tuesday night is more special though because the princess and the Queen of Soloma (my town) are crowned and a delegate come every year to crown her. Then after the crowning all we do is dance and have fun. I was the queen the year I turned 14 and it was so fun but my blouse ripped and I literally cried haha

My mama sister, Lencha says it's like a meat market because mostly only young single men come, looking for a partner. This is because all the men come from Guatemala to work and support their families back home in Guatemala.

The corte i wore to the celebrations was blue with white and purple flowers on it and my blouse ( huipil) matched it with mostly purple flowers. I wore purple heels and my hair was braided back with a blue flower. I'll include on the side/top a picture of the wedding.
