"When does this feeling pass?" I speak quietly standing next to my brother as we begin prepping the training area for the Valkyries.

Cassian chuckles as he throws an arm over me. "As far as I can tell it won't." He glances towards his own mate who is chatting with Scarlett, Gwyn, and Emerie. "Anytime someone seems flirty or interested in her I get that urge to eliminate them."

"Fuck." I hiss under my breath as I think of all the Priestesses that will soon fill this space and have eyes for Scarlett.

"If you think you can't keep it in control then leave." My brother switches to a serious tone. "These females have been through enough and this is a safe space for them. I'm not having you compromise what Nesta has built here."

"I'll be fine." I snap harshly. I'll keep in control... "Scar." I call out, prompting my mate to quickly come over.

"You okay?" She immediately reaches out to rest her hand on the side of my face, and I melt into the touch that helps calm me down.

"Keep me in control today." I speak with a firmness in my voice. "Hurt me if you have to."

Releasing a sigh she steps forward to kiss me gently. "You're going to do great. Try to get out of your head and focus on training."

"Pops said you haven't told your father about the two of you yet." Gwyn mentions as she and the other females walk over. "Now that you're mated he'll hopefully respond better."

I see Scarlett make a face as I chuckle a little bit. We both know Eris is going to hate that we are together... mated or not his reaction is not anticipated to be well received.

"Perhaps." She states turning to face the other females. "But I'm going to avoid telling him for a little while longer... he's already under enough stress as is, I don't want to add this on top of it so suddenly. Jora said she'll be dropping hints to him over the next few weeks to give the impression that I might be seeing someone in Night... hopefully by the time we do tell him, he won't be caught completely off guard."

"Hmm." Nesta makes a face that seems unconvinced. "I'm betting Eris is going to make a comment after he finds out that has you attacking him like you did at the last High Lords meeting."

I think back to how I nearly killed the male that day. If Feyre hadn't stopped me I would have...

Multiple sets of footsteps draw our ears as the Priestesses arrive. "Oh." I blink a few times as I see the group of females walking out with various wrapped gifts and plates of food.

"Congratulations!" One of the females I know to be infatuated with Scarlett steps forward extending a gift. "We are all beyond happy for you both!"

"Yes!" Another one runs forward, extending a basket filled with fruits. "As soon as we heard we all knew you were a perfect match!"

"Oo, thank you." Scarlett leaves my side as she walks forward to accept the various gifts and I fight my shadows to keep from reaching for her. "This is so sweet of you all. Truly you don't need-"

"We want to!" My mate is cut off. "After everything you two have done to train and work with us, we want to at least give you a few gifts as a thank you and a congratulations."

"You are all too kind." I step forward giving off a calm demeanor before pulling Scarlett against me while trying to not be obvious with my possessiveness.
