It's been a week since Evie arrived in Hawaii, they closed their first case with her on the team and now Steve's planning a romantic dinner for them.
Steve walks over to Evie as she's in the bullpen of the office.
"Meet me at ours at 8, wear something nice." Steve says kissing her birthmark.
"Where am I gonna get ready?" Evie asks, crossing her arms.
"You can get ready at mine, I can do your hair for you if you want?" Kono offers
"Sure that'll be great! I just gotta head home and grab what I'm going to wear and my make-up bag and have a shower." Evie explained.
"Grab your toiletry bag and have a shower at mine." Kono offers with a smile.
"Okay sounds good." Evie says. She goes over and gives Steve a kiss and she and Kono head out.
"Do you mind giving me a lift? Steve drove me here." Evie asks, worrying her bottom lip she doesn't want to be a burden.
"Sure, no problem!" Kono says happily with a smile.
"Thanks. I appreciate it. I hate being a bother." Evie says the last part more to herself then to Kono but the cop still hears her.
"You're not a bother Evie, this is what friends and ohanna are for. And you might have only been here for a week so far, but you are ohanna." Kono says determinedly as she places a gentle hand on her friend's shoulder.
"Thank you Kono, I appreciate that, I needed to hear that." Evie smiles as they get into Konos car.
They drive in comfortable silence until Evies phone rings.
She sees it's Eddie and answers it, thinking it might be Chris.
"Hello?" The blonde woman answers her phone.
"Hey, Buck, it's Eddie, do you have a minute?" Eddie asks
"For you or Chris?" Evie asks, frowning.
"Me." Eddie says a little uncertainty.
"Why?" Evie asks with furrowed brows.
"It's about Maddie." Eddie says
"What did she do now?" Evie asks, sighing.
"She had a mental breakdown at the dispatch center. She has been signed into a mental facility to help her. From what I know she hasn't really processed everything that happened with Doug and I guess you leaving with Steve stirred up a lot of stuff for her." Eddie says and Evie cuts him off there saying "so this is my fault?"
"No, not at all." Eddie says sighing "listen all I know is she's getting the help she should've gotten right after Doug died. I'm not blaming you, no one is, we are all sorry for listening to her and not talking to you about things. I hope you can forgive us, that you can forgive me not only for this but for everything." Eddie explained
"I'm trying, I'm working on it in therapy and with Steve. But I gotta go, I have to get ready. Night Diaz." Evie says and hangs up after Eddie says "Alright, Night Buck."
"Everything okay?" Kono asks as Evie scrubs a hand over her face roughly.
"Yea just peachy, I'll be right back." Evie says and Kono nods.
Evie goes in and grabs her make-up bag and toiletry bag as well as some jewelry and her navy blue lace cocktail dress and heads out to Konos car.
Kono starts the car once evies in and quickly texts Steve that they are leaving his house so he can start on his preparations for the evening cause Steve did Enlist Konos help for the evening.
