Clashing waves: a love story

The viewing

Evies been held up at Eddie's place for the last three days. She hasn't left since she got back from Abuelas and Tia Peppas.
Steve has tried to coax her out but she refuses.

Steve has been in contact with Athena as she gave him her number if they needed anything.
So this is how Bobby has found out that the woman he still sees as a daughter is held up at her dead best friend's house.

The Diaz's have been great considering everything.
They have been staying at Abuelas and coming to visit and deal with last minute arrangements for the funeral and viewing.

There's a knock on the door and Evie groans. She just sent Steve to get her ice cream and dill pickles. One of her cravings, so it's just her as Chris went with his grandparents today.

Evie waddles to the door and is surprised to see Bobby on the other side.

"Hi." Evie says

"Hi, can I come in?" Bobby asks

"Sure." Evie says and steps aside for him to walk in then shuts the door behind him.

"How are you?" Bobby asks as he passes her a container full of his lasagna.

"I'm okay." Evie lies. As she dips up some lasagna.

"Don't lie, you don't have to, not with me." Bobby says and Evie breaks. She clutches the counter as a sob breaks through her. Bobby is beside her rubbing her back.

"I know." He says gently.

"It's not fair!" Evie yells.

"I know." Bobby agrees

"I just feel like it's my fault, like if I was there maybe I could've gotten to him faster and he'd still be here." Evie sobs as she hugs Bobby.

"There's nothing no one could have done. I know that's hard to hear. But it's the truth. Don't blame yourself." Bobby says, reassuringly.

"I know we had our ups and downs and shit was tough for awhile but he was becoming my best friend again. Chris needs his dad!" Evie rants as she pulls away from Bobby and wipes at her eyes.

"I know. You know, he forgave you for leaving and everything. He understood we talked about it a few weeks ago. He was happy for you Evie." Bobby says as he grabs two plates of lasagna and takes them to the table.

"Thank you. I needed to hear that." Evie states as she takes a bite of lasagna.

"I know. So how is the pregnancy going? It's twins right?" Bobby asks

"Yea twin girls actually." Evie says smiling softly.

"Wow that's amazing, I'm so proud of you Evie. I know it was hard to stay here after everything I did and I appreciate you giving me another chance."
Bobby says putting his hand on top of hers.

"Thanks Bobby, I appreciate that. I do forgive you, just so you know. I actually was gonna call you and Athena soon to talk to you both but I guess in person is better." Evie says and Bobby nods encouragingly at her.

"I want you and Athena to be my girls grandparents. They won't have any on Steve's side as his fathers gone and his mother is awol half the time as she's a CIA agent. And my parents are the shits, so I want them to have you guys who I know will love them no matter what." Evie explained.

"Oh wow." Bobby is shocked. He never expected this, he wished for it but never expected it.

"We would be honored. Thank you." Bobby says getting up and hugging Evie.

"I'm glad, I couldn't imagine better grandparents for my girls." Evie states.

Just then Steve comes back.
