It's been six months since Evie moved to Hawaii, since she joined Five-0. Six months of Steve and Evie being engaged. Six months since the helicopter shooting, that made Evie nearly lose Steve. Six months since she left the 118 and LA. She's been in contact with Chris and she's starting to mend her friendship with Eddie.
Once he realized Maddie was ill and projecting her past traumas onto her sister, things were better between Evie and Eddie. She still hasn't fully forgiven him, but they are working on it.
Maddie is getting out of the mental health facility soon and Evie doesn't know what to do about forgiving Maddie. And not just for causing trouble with the 118 thinking Steve is controlling and abusive which he's not.
But also for the years Maddie abandoned Evie and then just came back like 15 years hadn't gone by. Or the fact that Maddie took everyone else's side and basically abandoned her again after the lawsuit, or the fact that she thought firefightering was dangerous.
Well guess what, now she gets shot at least once everyday, she is partnered with Steve so that doesn't help matters or the fact that the two headstrong, reckless and danger magnets also ex seals are partners as Danny would rant.

This particular Monday morning Evie is met with extreme nausea at 5am so she rushes to the bathroom, in her haste to make it to the bathroom on time she wakes Steve up.
"What's wrong?" Steve asks groggily, then he hears Evie throwing up, all traces of sleep gone now as he throws the covers back on the bed and races to the ensuite bathroom to hold her hair back. He rubs soothing circles on her back.
Evie finishes throwing up and brushes her teeth and wash her face as Steve asks. "What's wrong angel? Did you eat something bad? Are you coming down with the flu?"
As Steve's asking this Evies eyes catch on the tampons on the back of the toilet. She's always been regular with her cycle so her being late like she is, this could only mean one thing...
"I'm late." She says out loud. Causing Steve to look confused.
"It's 5am. What are you late for?" Steve asks, rubbing his hand over her arm comfortingly.
"My period." Evie says in a quiet voice with her eyes squeezed shut.
"Your-your pregnant?" Steve asks, shocked.
"Only one way to truly know." Evie says as she digs in the bathroom cupboard. She always keeps pregnancy tests on hand and god isn't she thankful for that right now.
"You have tests on hand?" Steve asks, he is internally freaking out but trying to be calm for Evie.
"Yea." Evie says as she finds the tests.
"I'll leave you alone to take it. I'll be in the bedroom when you're done okay?" Steve says and asks.
Evie nods numbly. Steve sees that she's spiraling and he kisses her tenderly, then says "I love you everything will be alright. No matter what, I'm by your side Angel."
"Thanks Steve, love you too." Evie says, Steve leaves the bathroom. Evie quickly takes the test and flips the test upside down and sets the timer for three minutes.
She washes her hands then opens the bathroom door, finding Steve in a pair of basketball shorts.
"What does it say?" Steve asks coming over to embrace Evie.
"I won't know until the timer goes off." Evie explained leaning her head on his chest.
"Everything will be fine." Steve says trying to convince himself and Evie.
It's not that Steve doesn't want this or to have a child or a family with Evie cause he does, so badly. He has only pictured this kind of future with one women and she's in his arms right now.
Out in the desert he'd let himself think what it be like to be state side with Evie, married and children.
