After the patrol cops are done taking statements and the perps are taken away to the morgue, Eddie is the first one to come up to Evie.
"Thank you for saving Chris. Evie I don't know what we would have done if you weren't here." Eddie says, gratefully.
"No problem, you know I'd do anything for Chris. I'd sacrifice myself for him. I love him like my own." Evie says, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I know. That's why, a year before the truck bombing I put in my will that if something happens to me you get Christopher. I thought I'd better tell you where you're leaving. In our lines of work you never know what's going to happen." Eddie says solomny.
Evies taken aback, she's surprised but so grateful.
"Thank you. I appreciate that. You know I'd look after him." Evie says, not knowing what else to say.
"I do. And I know you'd raise him the way I'd want him raised." Eddie says just as Steve comes over.
"We are free to go and we better soon leave to catch our flight." Steve says with a hand on the small of Evies back.
Evie nods and just before she turns to walk away she says to Eddie.
"I'd like to keep in contact with both you and Chris if that's ok?"
"Of course." Eddie says just then Chris comes over and Evie knows it's time to break the news to her superman.
"Hey superman, you okay?" Evie asks to check him over herself making sure he didn't get hurt.
"Yea I'm fine thanks to you Bucky." Chris says with a bright smile.
"No problem bud. Now I need to talk to you though." Evie says as a lone tear leaves her eyes.
"What's wrong?" Chris asks being as smart as ever.
"I'm going away. I'm moving to Hawaii, with Steve." Evie says and she sees the young boy's lip start to tremble and tears start to stream down his face.
"I'll visit and call, I promise I'm not leaving you." Evie says as she hugs Chris close.
"You're not gonna go away like mom are you?" Chris asked shakily.
"No superman, I will always fight for you, and I'll always be here for you. I love you so much superman." Evie says as her heart breaks at the thought of leaving Chris.
Eddie has tears of his own that he wipes at and Steve feels bad for Evie having to leave Chris but he knows it's what's best for Evie right now.
"I love you Bucky." Chris says hiccuping.
"I love you too." Evie says and lets Chris go from the bear hug.
"Call us when you get to Hawaii?" Eddie asks
"It might be late so I'll just text but I'll call once it's morning." Evie says and Eddie nods.
He hugs her and she is taken aback. He whispers in her ear "I'm sorry." Then he lets her go. In more ways than one and to say that Eddie has finally realized what he could've had but pushed away, is an understatement.
He will always love her but he knows she's better off without him. He has too many issues to work through.
"I forgive you." Evie whispers back
Eddie nods, and shakes Steve's hand as he says "have her back out there. Take care of her."
Steve nods as he says "always." A simple word but so true. He will always take care of his angel and make sure she's good. He will always have her back.
They part ways from Chris and Eddie after one more hug from Chris. Then Evie and Steve go over to the seals and say their goodbyes to them.
"We will visit Hawaii soon!" Hondo says as he hugs Evie.
"You better!" Evie says with a wet chuckle.
"I'm gonna miss you!" Nichelle says as the two women have become close along with Michelle.
"I'll miss you too. Keep Hondo in line." Evie says and Nichelle chuckles at that.
"I'll try." She says then Evie kisses baby Vivian's head. "I'm gonna miss you too, little one." Evie says
"She'll always know who her aunty Evie is. We will FaceTime you all the time." Hondo says matter of factly.
"Good." Evie says as she goes to Sam as Steve talks to jay and Jason.
""I'm gonna miss you sam!" Evie says as she gives Sam a bear hug.
"I'm gonna miss you too, but it's for the best." Sam says returning the hug.
"You take care and don't look back." Sam says
"Always." Evie says
Then she hugs Michelle and Aiden and Kamron.
"Be good for your parents okay? And remember you can always call me ok?" Evie says as she hugs the kids close.
"We will, we love you aunty Evie." Kamron says
"Love you guys too." Evie says
Then she moves on to jay and Jason.
"You two stay out of trouble and come visit us soon in Hawaii and jay bring your family next time!" Evie says hugging both men.
"We always stay out of trouble." Jason says Evie snorts at that.
"I'll bring Erin and the girls out to Hawaii soon!" Jay promises as he and Erin have twin eight year old girls Nadia and Camille.
"You better." Evie says hugging Jay.
"Love you brothers." Evie says
"We love you too sis." Jason says with Jay nodding along.
Evie reluctantly pulls away from her brothers and heads towards the 118 and Maddie.
"Okay so we have to go now." Evie says awkwardly.
"You have nothing to say for yourself?" Maddie asks like a spoiled child who didn't get her way.
"No, I did what I had to to protect the kids and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. This is why I never told any of you what I'm Capable of." Evie says staring coldly at her sister.
"I don't even know who you are anymore!" Maddie screech's sounding way too much like their mother for Evie's likings.
"Maybe if you would of been around more and didn't fall off of the face of the earth from the time I was 11 tell I was 26 maybe we wouldn't be having this conversation. Cause Maddie I sent you postcards, I told you I joined the seals but you seemingly forgot all that now didn't you?" Evie asks coldly.
"I-I." Maddie stutters and Steve cuts her off.
"It's time to go angel, we are gonna be late for our flight." Steve says
Evie nods and took Steve's hand and went to walk away.
"You just leaving like that?" Maddie asks
"Yes Maddie I am." And with that Evie left the 118 and LA, not looking back. She might in the future try to reconnect but she needs time to heal.
Once in the jeep Steve asks "you okay?"
Evie nods as he drives them to the airport.
He takes her hand in his and kisses her knuckles.
"I love you Steve." Evie finally say
"I love you Evie, so much." Steve says
And with that being said he parks the jeep as the person buying it is already there. Evies selling the jeep really cheep to Albert.
"Here take care of it please." Evie says
"Of course. Thank you for the jeep and the loft. I appreciate it." Albert says and hugs Evie.
"No problem, take care of yourself." Evie says and they part ways.
They board the plane and Evie feels lighter and happier than she has in a long time. It's time for the next chapter of her life , with Steve by her side where he belongs.
