Evie walks into the living room and sees the familiar mop of curls and tears threaten to fall again.
"Hey superman." Buck says, when Chris looks up from his lego and sees Buck, first he smiles then he takes in her tear stained face and asks.
"You're not here for a visit are you? Something has happened to dad?" Chris states and asks...
"Yea superman something has." Evie says as she takes a seat next to the almost ten year old.
"What happened? Is he going to be ok?" Chris asks. And god Evie wants to be able to say everything is going to be okay. But it's not.
"No bud, he's not okay." Evie says and Chris's lip starts to tremble and tears start to fall and Evie just wants to take the young boys pain away.
"What happened?" Chris asks.
"You know how he was at work yesterday?" Evie asks and Chris nods.
"Well something happened, he got shot in the middle of the street. I'm so sorry Chris, he didn't make it." Evie says
Chris sobs as he clings to Buck.
After about fifteen minutes of sobbing, Chris asks "what's gonna happen to me now? I don't want to live with abuelo and grandma."
"You won't have to, superman. If you want to, your dad left you to me so you can move to Hawaii with me." Evie explained, brushing the loose curls off of Chris's forehead.
"Really? I get to live with you?" Chris asks
"Yep, if that's what you want." Evie says
"It is, but what about Steve and the babies? Will you still want me when the babies come?" Chris asks and god doesn't that just break Evies heart.
"Of course superman! You'll always be my superman. I love you. Yes the twins are gonna need my attention but I'll always be there and have time for you!" Buck explains and pulls Chris into a hug.
"Thanks Bucky, I love you." Chris says.
"I love you too superman." Buck tells her favorite little boy.
"So I need you to pack your stuff when your ready because after your dad's funeral we will be going back to Hawaii." Evie explained.
"Okay." Chris says.

Evie leaves Chris for a second to go talk to Athena, Steve and Carla. Chris curls up on the sofa and watches a marvel movie.
"How is he?" Carla asks as soon as she sees Buck come into the kitchen.
"I don't think it's fully sunk in yet. He cried for about fifteen minutes and then he was worried about going to live with his grandparents cause he doesn't want that. But I told him he will be coming back to Hawaii with us." Evie explained.
"Well Eddie always did say you would be the best to look after Chris if something happened to him. Listen, you know my husband passed last year." Carla says and Evie nods along.
"I'll move to Hawaii to help you guys with Chris and the twins once you go back to work." Carla says and Evie and Steve are both shocked.
"You don't have to do that, Carla, I don't want you to leave your life." Evie says with tears in her eyes.
"Don't be silly, Chris is my life, and Eddie would want this. There's nothing in LA, if Chris leaves." Carla explained.
"Okay if this is what you want." Evie says.
"It is." Carla says matter of factly.
"Thank you Carla." Evie says and hugs the older woman.
"Yes thank you Carla, we can help you find a place in Hawaii." Steve says.
