Xavier's POV:

"Lorenzo this is stupid! It's almost been a decade! I wasn't even in control at that time. It was my father! You can't do this to me!" I argued.

"Once an enemy, always an enemy" he stated, face cold as stone as he leaned back in his chair, arms crossed across his chest.

I shifted my gaze to Adrian, his second in command. "Tell him. C'mon! You know how beneficial this alliance can be for you too" I said.

Adrian raised his hands up in surrender, "Talk to my wife." His wife, Vivianna, looked even more uninterested in this conversation than him.

"Vi-"

"Don't even start Alvarez. You tried using me to get to my brother. Not a shot" she said, her tone leaving no place for arguments.

Long story short, the Italians have refused to keep an alliance with us, because 9 years ago, my dad sent an assassin to kill the Italian Capo, a.k.a Lorenzo Franchini.

"My men are already in the Serbian mafia's base. They are there on the hope that you will get them out if anything goes wrong. Lorenzo, I can't afford to lose them."

"Are you begging me Alvarez?" Lorenzo smirked, staring into my soul with utmost confidence, because in all honesty, he has all the power here.

"No I'm not-" I closed my eyes, taking in a deep breath, "Lorenzo, use your fucking brain. Right now, my everything is on stake. My mafia, my position, my men, my goddamn family! Why will I ever betray you?!"

"Power. A man can do anything for power" Vivianna stated. "You are the strongest mafia in the world for god sake! Don't you think I realize the risk of going against you?!"

I was losing my patience, and if I do, then this won't end good. "First of all, watch your tone. And secondly, my decision is final" Lorenzo said.

"Fine! At least get my men safely out of the Serbian's base" I gave in. There was no use of arguing in a matter where I have already lost.

"Our men have already moved from there. This won't be possible" Adrian said. "What?!" I stood up from my place, staring at the three in shock.

"I have almost 20 men in there!" I yelled. Lorenzo rolled his eyes, getting up from his seat, "I'll get your men out. Stop shouting like a bitch."

"Voy a dispararle" (I'm going to fucking shoot him) I said to Tony, who sighed, telling me to calm down. "Te dispararía antes" (I'd shoot you before) Lorenzo smirked.

Now I had no idea that this son of a bitch spoke Spanish. But the fact that he did, just made my level of annoyance reach to it's limit.

"Get out" I pointed at the door. "Oh we will. Just don't come crawling back to me Alvarez" he said smugly, before leaving with his family.

"FUCK!" I cursed, throwing everything that was on the table, on the ground. I sat down, my head in my hands.

"Don" Tony spoke. "What?!!" I growled, and from the corner of my eye, I saw him flinching. "Mrs. Alvarez is calling" he said, forwarding my phone towards me.

I sighed, taking it from him, "What Sylvia?" I tried keeping my tone void of any emotions, but I think the irritation of losing was coming out.

"Are you okay? Max said you left in a hurry? Is everything okay Xavier?"

Her tone was laced with worry, and somewhere inside me, I knew that Maxwell too was listening in on this conversation.

"I'm fine. I'm just busy" I said. "Xavier, whatever it is, we can sort it out together. Just come home." There it was. Max's voice.
