Xavier's POV:
"Mi reina, at least let me speak" I backed up with every step she took forward, anger blazing in her eyes. "Oh yeah? You can defend it, can't you?" she spat out in anger.
"I-I can!" I hit the table behind me, gulping at the look she gave me. What a perfect nickname Max has given her! Lioness.
"Go on then" she stepped extremely close to me, her hand wrapped around my throat and her eyes glaring into my soul.
"But mark my words Xavier Alvarez," she bit my lip hard, making it bleed, "If I am not satisfied by what you have to say, this entire office will be the witness of your screams."
I gulped again, nodding subtly. She loosened her grip around my neck, still staring into my eyes. "Speak" she demanded.
"Ok so you see...Elena, was my almost wife. We were about to get married, but I met you before that. So I rejected her" I said.
"The fuck does almost wife mean?" she raised an eyebrow. I sighed, giving her a sincere look, "It's more complicated than you think Sylvia. Can we sit and talk?"
I really couldn't let out a single word with the predatory gaze she was giving me. Ready to pounce, ready to attack.
She understood the seriousness in my voice and nodded. "Okay" she said, stepping back. Sylvia and I sat on the chairs in my office cabin, her ready for my explanation.
I described from beginning to end, not leaving out a single detail. Sylvia's wide eyes told me how shocked she was to hear all this.
"So your mafia...." she started, but was unable to finish. "Not really mine" I shrugged, trying to hide the disappointment in my eyes.
It was something my parents gave their life for after all.
Sylvia walked over, pulling me into a hug. "You did it for me" she whispered, her voice slightly wavering.
"The best decision of my life" I smiled, pecking her cheek. She chuckled, pulling back and looking down at me with a cute little smile.
"Can I punish you?" she asked with such an innocent face as if she was just asking for an ice cream date.
"Um...what?" I gave her a confused frown.
"Well you see, when I saw that envelope outside my office, I had this entire thing planned out in my head. But now you're not even at fault so I can't do it. But I really wanna" she whined.
Long story short, someone (probably Elena) left an envelope for Sylvia with our deal papers which I had signed on.
And that made Sylvia very mad. Which is understandable. I literally declared Elena my wife on those papers.
"Well, I'm not guilty though" I stood up, brushing off invisible dirt from my suit jacket. "C'mon Xavier! I know this is also one of your fantasies" she urged.
"Yes, but not today" I said. "Why not?" she asked. "I don't know. Probably because I'm scared of the entire office hearing me?" I gave her the side eye look.
She simply rolled her eyes at me, "You do it today, or any other day. People in the office will always have a chance of hearing you."
"Yes, but if I'm prepared, I'll give most of them a holiday and only call the ones I trust 100%" I replied.
"What's the fun in that?" she scrunched up her face, "The fun in public humiliation comes when you know that people have a damn good chance of hearing you crumble."
"Sylvia I–"
"Shush! Safe word and I walk out of here, or nothing except your acceptance" she crossed her arms across her chest.
