6 Months Later
Natalia's POV: (Xavier's sister)
Luna and I had been dating for nearly 3 months now. Our relationship had evolved from hesitant flirtation to deep, unwavering love.
She was the first person I thought about when I woke up and the last person on my mind before I fell asleep.
We were a perfect match, with her bubbly, joyous demeanor balancing out my quiet, reserved self. The only problem was the secret I had kept from her about my family.
I knew I had to tell her about Xavier, but the right moment never seemed to come. It wasn't like I was deliberately hiding him; it was just complicated.
I can't just go up to her and be like 'Hey Luna? Remember I told you I have a brother? Yeah, his name is Xavier and he's the don of the Spanish Mafia.' So I procrastinated.
And now we're here. Luna had been planning this double date for weeks. She wanted me to meet her best friend, Sylvia, and her brother, Maxwell.
Apparently, Sylvia and Maxwell are married, and Luna also met Sylvia through Maxwell.
I was excited yet nervous. Meeting the people who were important to her was a big step. As the day approached, my anxiety only grew.
We arrived at the restaurant a little early, and Luna squeezed my hand reassuringly as we walked inside.
"You're going to love them" she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement, "Sylvia is like a sister to me, and Maxwell is just the sweetest. You'll fit right in."
We got a table, and waited for the couple to come. But as soon as I saw who Sylvia and Maxwell were, my heart stopped.
Fuck.
I had seen them before. I had seen them in photos Xavier showed me of them. How could I have not realized this before? How could I have not put the pieces together?
Luna introduced us, and I mustered up the best smile I could. "Natalia, this is Sylvia, my best friend, and Maxwell, my brother."
"Hi, it's so nice to finally meet you," I said, my voice trembling slightly. As we sat down, I could feel the weight of the secret pressing down on me.
"Luna's told me so much about you. I must say, you are much more beautiful than what she describes" Sylvia complimented.
I chuckled, thanking her as a blush spread across my cheeks. I tried to get involved in their conversation the best I could, but my mind was racing.
"I don't know if Luna has told you this, but Sylvia and I are in polyamorous relationship" Maxwell said, making my head snap up to him.
Why did he just say that? Shit, did he figure it out?
"R-Really? That's news to me" I said with a smile. "Well, I just wanted to point out how you have the exact same eye color as Xavier, our husband" Maxwell said.
"Oh yeah, I didn't notice that" Sylvia exclaimed. "That's cool" I exclaimed, pretending to be shocked.
"I didn't think amber eye color would be this common" Sylvia said. Yeah well, it isn't. We're just siblings with a mother who had amber eyes.
Dinner passed in a blur. I was in a constant stare of anxiousness and had no idea about what I was supposed to do.
Xavier had told me that his partners don't about me. He wanted to wait to tell them until I was fully healed. But now this has happened.
"Hey Nat? You good?" Luna whispered to me, holding my hand comfortingly. "Huh? Yeah, yeah I'm fine" I laughed it off.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the dinner ended. Sylvia and Maxwell hugged us both goodbye, promising we'd all get together again soon.
