Sylvia's POV:
"Are you sure he is still in Russia?" Luis asked to someone on the phone. "Ok, ok great."
"Max's in Russia?" I asked, hope rising in me. "That's what my men told me" Luis nodded.
"The jet is already ready. We can leave this instant" Xavier said.
"Not feasible. We have Max's location, but not any other information surrounding him" Luis replied.
"We can make the plan on the jet" Xavier said.
"And what if you need to contact people on the ground? You aren't going to get phone signals up there" Luis said. Xavier cursed.
"Fine. We make a plan first, then we leave" he said.
"Darren!" Xavier yelled, and a guard came running over. I know him. I've always seen him around the house. I didn't know his name though.
"Si don?" Darren asked.
"Get in contact with our people in Russia. Track down the warehouse where Max is and get it surrounded" Xavier commanded.
Darren nodded and left. "Xavier" Luis called, "Keep your calm after we go there. Max is our first priority. Not Natalia's revenge."
"I know that. You don't need to baby me" Xavier rolled his eyes.
"Also, take a team and coordinate with our allies Luis. See if any of them agree to help us. We need to know every move Zoran makes."
"I'm on it Xavier. We'll have eyes on that bastard soon enough" Luis nodded, before he left.
Xavier was in full mafia don mode, and it was both intimidating and awe-inspiring.
Half an hour later, a younger man came over with a hesitant look on his face. "Speak up" Xavier commanded, his patience clearly wearing thin.
"Don we– we uh, we've been trying to get more intel on Zoran, but we hit a dead end. We only know the warehouse's location. He's covered his tracks well" the man stammered.
Xavier's eyes narrowed as he took a step closer towards the man, "You're telling me, with all our resources, you can't get a single piece of information?"
"I-I'm sorry Don. We're trying, but–" Xavier cut him off.
"No excuses! I don't want to hear it. You get me that information, or I'll find someone who can" Xavier said, his voice a dangerous whisper.
The man paled, nodding vigorously before turning around to leave.
"Oh and one more thing" Xavier stopped him, "If you come back without information, bring along a gun too. I'd love to play some Russian roulette with you."
A single drop of sweat rolled down the side of the man's face, before he quickly scurried away.
I felt my heart pounding. This was a side I had never fully seen before, and it made me feel a mix of fear and admiration for him.
The fear he commanded was evident in the man's reaction. Yet, despite the harshness, I knew it came from the desperation for wanting to save Max.
"Xavier" I whispered, reaching out to touch his arm. He turned around to look at me, his expression softening.
"I'm sorry you have to see this side of me, Sylvia," he said, his voice gentler now, "But I need to make sure everyone understands the urgency."
"I understand" I squeezed his arm reassuringly, "Just...try to be calm please." He nodded, placing a soft kiss on my forehead.
