I couldn't help but feel a pang of tenderness as I watched Kiara drift off to sleep from next to me, her features softening in slumber.
__
Later in the night, I woke up and found Kiara had edged closer to me, her arms wrapped around my torso and
her head resting gently on my chest. My arms found their way around her, and slowly started running my hands up and down her back.
In the soft glow of the moonlight filtering through the curtains, we lay intertwined on the couch. I traced circles on her back, savoring the warmth of her body pressed against mine.
In the quiet of the night, I felt brave enough to admit what had been kept locked inside my heart.
With a hesitant breath, I whispered into the darkness, confessing my feelings, the words tumbling out in a rush.
"Oh, Kiara, what the fuck are you doing to me." I lowly said.
"You know when I first saw in the grocery store, I thought you were the most beautiful thing I've ever my eyes on. And till this day, you still veey much are. Hell, everyday I see you, you grow even more beautiful in my eyes and I can't seem to shake that feeling off. I didn't realize what meeting you would cause. But it caused my life to turn upside down and you just became the center of my world, filling it with light and joy. I've never not smiled so much in my life when your around and the way you made my heart race with just a smile, the warmth that spread through me whenever you were near, the overwhelming feeling of happiness whenever we are together, shit, its the best thing I've ever felt."
As I spoke, I felt a pang of vulnerability, unsure if she could hear me or if my words were just echoes in the night.
I felt her stir against me. My heart skipped a beat, she opened her eyes, looked up at me with a soft smile, her gaze filled with tenderness and affection. In that moment, I knew she had heard every word.
"You heard me didn't you?" I asked.
"Mhm." She said her bottom lip sinking into her mouth, a smile playing on her lips.
For a moment, we simply held each other's gaze, the weight of their unspoken feelings hanging in the air between us.
Then, with a gentle laugh, she reached up to brush a stray strand of hair from his face.
The simple gesture made my heart squeeze.
"At least it's not one of us that's free that feels that deeply about the other." She said and a small smile made it was on my lips.
"You know, when I'm in your presence, I feel a sense of security and understanding that I had never experienced before. Your genuine admiration and unwavering support had gradually woven its way into the fabric of her life, brightening my days with laughter and companionship. With each passing moment spent in your company, I discovered new facets of your character that intrigued and delighted me. Your kindness, humor, and genuine nature were like beacons of light in my life, dispelling any shadows of doubt or insecurity. In that moment of quiet intimacy, I allowed myself to acknowledge the depth of my emotions. You had become more than just a friend; you were the person who made me feel alive, cherished, and completely seen for who I was." She finished.
My heart skipped a beat at her words, overwhelmed with a rush of happiness and relief. Pulling her closer, I pressed a tender kiss to her forehead, my heart overflowing with love for the girl who had captured my heart.
As we lay there together, rapped in each other's arms, I realized that this was right where I wanted to be.
--
As Grayson and I drifted back to sleep, wrapped in the warmth of each other, the morning sun continued its ascent, casting a soft glow through the windows. Time seemed to slip away, cocooning us in a blissful bubble of shared affection.I stirred awake once again, my peaceful sleep interrupted by the sound of laughter and camera clicks.
My eyes flutter open, blinked in confusion, still half-lulled by sleep, and realized Grayson and I were the center of attention.
"What's going on?" I asked, rubbing my eyes and glancing around.
My hair tousled and my eyes still heavy with sleep, I sat up slowly beside Grayson, trying not to wake up, the realization dawning on me as I saw our friends grinning mischievously.
"We got you guys!" Mila exclaimed, holding up her phone to show the candid snapshots she had captured.
A small smile made its way onto my lips.
Memories of last night, came crashing right back at me, causing my smile to widen even more.I bit down on my bottom lip, glancing at a sleeping Grayson.
Logan, grinning widely, chimed in, "You two make a cute couple, you know."
"Right, that's exactly what we've been saying." Jordan said.
The friends laughed together, the atmosphere filled with warmth and camaraderie. As the morning continued, the playful banter and shared laughter served as a joyful backdrop to the beginning of what promised to be a beautiful day.
