SERAFINA WATCHED Sokka lead Appa while Katara had wrapped a bandage around her arm. The pain had slightly dwindled, yet her arm stung like nothing before. Her mind was caught back to what happened in the temple, unable to focus on the bickering from Sokka and Aang, who was pacing back and forced on Appa's saddle.
It was a calm day, the skies clear and chilly in the air, yet all Serafina could think about was how her face wasn't burned worse than her arm right now.
"Will you sit down? We hit one bump and you'll go flying off!" Sokka scolded Aang, who just ignored the older boy. "What are you so worried about anyways?" He asked, holding Appa's reigns. Sera watched Sokka's head turn back to glance at the twelve year old Avatar. Aang ranted but Serafina hadn't heard but a bit, her troubled mind temporarily distracting itself from the present.
Aang's face looked internally troubled, and Serafina couldn't blame him. She wondered how he even came to be here, one hundred years later. Maybe one day he'd tell them, just like one day she could tell them where she actually came to be here, too. If she ever found out why and how.
"It's what Avatar Roku said. I'm supposed to master all four elements before that comet arrives." Aang explained. Serafina felt bad for the amount of pressure put on him. Why was it their obligation to stop this war at their age? Her mind was falling down a rabbit hole.
"Well, you pretty much mastered airbending, and that only took you one hundred and twelve years. I'm sure you can master three more elements by next summer." Sokka shrugged off his words, not taking the hint of Aang's serious tone. She loved to joke around and was horrible at comforting people, yeah, but she knew how to read a room.
"You're not helping, ponytail." She retorted at Sokka, who looked back at her with wild, offended eyes towards the black haired girl. She scrunched up her nose and sarcastically smiled for a split second.
"It's a warriors tail!" Which, earned him a nut that 'Momo' threw at his head. Serafina immediately looked off like she hadn't seen a thing, throwing the bag of nuts at Momo. Sokka would've chuckled at her actions if Aang wasn't a mess, so he merely just held it in and continued to fly Appa.
"I haven't even started waterbending, and we're still weeks away from the North Pole. What am I gonna do!?" Aang exclaimed, putting his hands on his head in distraught. Katara looked at him sympathetically, grabbing his arm. Serafina eyeballed the two, always noticing the way Aang would blush or get nervous when Katara had done something of the sort.
"It's okay, you'll be fine. If you want, I can try to teach you some of the things I know." Katara smiled kindly at Aang, spoke while finishing up the bandages on Serafina's upper arm. It still stung, of course, but it felt a little better. Sera stretched her arm out in different ways, the thought of what happened at the air temple still fresh in her mind.
"You'd do that?" Aang looked at Katara gratefully. Katara nodded like she was surprised he would even suggest she wouldn't.
"We'll need to find a good source of water first. Maybe we can find a puddle for you to splash in." Sokka announced with an indifferent tone, which only made the rest of the group laugh.
...
IRONICALLY, THEY HAD found a huge waterfall and a beautiful river connected to it. Sokka deadpanned while the rest stood in awe. Sera nudged him with her elbow, giggling at his face.
"Nice puddle." His tone was flat, causing the other three kids to laugh at him as they settled their camp in.
After Aang and Katara had started their waterbending, Sokka was stuck cleaning the gunk out of Appa's feet. He had argued on why Serafina didn't have to, but she merely pulled the injured card. Plus, she also wanted to go and train alone somewhere. She needed to test something before she came to a conclusion.
