"KATARA, FIREBENDERS WERE here. You can't pretend they weren't." Sokka walked beside his sister, who walked beside Serafina. Aang had already run into the temple, too excited for his friends' slow pace.
"I can for Aang's sake. If he finds out the Fire Nation invaded his home, he'll be devastated." Katara explained while the three walked towards the entrance. Her voice was filled with soft sympathy. Serafina had watched Sokka and Katara during the trip there, and it was evident what roles each one had taken in their family. Katara was a sort of mom, caring, always thinking of others. Sokka... Sokka was a whole mystery within himself.
As Serafina was about to try and say something, explain that he'll figure out pretty soon anyways, Aang's voice made itself known. "Hey, guys! I want you to meet somebody." A statue made of copper was molded into a monk, Serafina guessed, sitting with his legs intertwined. He had his eyes closed with the folds of clothing surrounded his body. Snow rested on his shoulder and some on his head. Rust covered the entire statue, making it known how old it was.
"Who is it?" asked Sokka, crossing his arms like the selfish prick he was.
"Monk Gyatso, the greatest airbender in the world. He taught me everything I know." Aang bowed to him, showing his respect. He really was one hundred years old, which was hard to stomach for Sera.
Katara walked up towards him and put a hand on his shoulder. "You must miss him." Sympathy.
"Yeah."
"Where are you going?" Katara asked as Aang started walking passed the statue without another word.
"The Air Temple Sanctuary. There's someone I'm ready to meet." The yellow clothes that hung over his body disappeared as Katara turned around, looking to us with a confused look. Looking around at the abandoned temple only worried Serafina. It was a wasteland. Theres no way something is alive.
Sokka shrugged beside Sera. Katara walked ahead of them. Sokka turned toward the black-haired girl. "He's gonna figure out sooner or later." Serafina looked at him with a knowing look, she pursed her lips and looked forward again.
"I know." But she doesn't. She doesn't know a thing. But it didn't take a rocket scientist to understand that something happened here. She looked to Katara, who followed Aang. She couldn't protect him forever, from whatever this world had put his home through. This world held so much danger that it made Serafina want to figure out how to leave now. I mean, a literal war was going on. Except their wars contained controlled elements of the earth. With nature invovled, who knew what imbalance this world was put through.
"But, Aang, no one could've survived in there for a hundred years." Katara said, stopping beside him.
"It's not impossible. I survived in that iceberg for that long."
Serafina's face crinkled in confusion. She looked to Sokka with parted lips, everything on her face saying that's literally impossible.
"Long story, it's avatar stuff." Sokka said, which was somehow supposed to reassure her. Avatar stuff? What did that even mean? What has she gotten herself into?
"Katara, whoever's in there might help me figure out this avatar thing." There it is again. Avatar.
Sokka sprung forward. "And whoever's in there might have a medley of delicious cured meats." He walked towards the door, trying to push it open to no avail. He fell to the ground with his attempts. "I don't suppose you have a key."
