Chapter 23

--Jade's POV--

"Anyone got another plan!" I snap my arm back into place and wait for it to heal. "Yeah, we fight and hope it ends well." Carsen runs toward Dampyr with Harry and Wes following. Sam and Darcy run out from behind him and attack Carsen and Wes. Harry pulls Sam off of Carsen while Kian pushes Darcy off of Wes. Leaving Dampyr and I staring at each other waiting for someone to make the first move. Of course it's me as I run at him while he stands there smirking.

Before I can reach him Darcy pushes me against a wall, pinning me. "Don't do this." She says holding me by the throat. "Darcy stop this. Let me go!" She shakes her head. "I'm sorry, but I can't." She pulls me from the wall and throws me to the ground. I groan as the floor comes in contact with my body. I look up at her with glowing red eyes as she stares back at me with golden ones. I swing one leg around and knock her off her feet. I pick her up and throw her. Her body connects with a wall and she falls to the ground once again. I look around to see Kian and Sam fighting. Kian on top of him throwing punches. Harry dragging Darcy away from the fight and Wes going after Dampyr. Carsen nowhere in sight. Wes throws a punch but he stops it before it connects with his face. He breaks his arm and kicks him to the ground. Once again it's only to two of us. Staring at each other, seeing who will make the first move. It's him this time. He picks up a chair and throws it at me, but it hits the wall next to me. "You missed."

"I mean't to sweetheart." He smirks. He starts walking toward me when Wes appears in front of him. Sending a kick to Dampyr's stomach and a knee to his face. He stumbles back, but doesn't seem fazed by what just happened. He looks at Wes, nothing but anger in his eyes. "I've had enough of you." He growls. "I'm just getting started." He snaps. Wes throws more punches. He dodges most of them before he has Wes in a choke hold against a wall. Wes tries to get out of his hold but fails. I charge at him, but Darcy pushes me to the ground. She's on top of me holding my face down. All I can see is Wes struggling to get away. "You wanna see what happens when you think you can beat me." He smirks. He takes his hand and pushes it through Wesley's chest. "AGH!" I wiggle to get out of Darcy's hold. "STOP! Please stop!" I cry.

"It's a little to late for that." He grabs ahold of Wes's heart and pulls it out of his chest. "NOOO! NO! WES! Wesley oh my god no!" His lifeless body falls to the ground. Dampyr drops his heart and walks away. Darcy and Sam following. I run to him. "I'm sorry! Wes I'm so sorry!" I take his heart and try to put it back but he doesn't wake up. "No, please come on wake up! Please wake up Wes, I'm so sorry." I cry into his shoulder. "Jade." Kian whispers behind me. "Kian help me, we can bring him back we just have to get him to the doctor." I try to pick him up, but he slips through my hands. "Kian help me." I plead. "Jade he's gone. We can't do anything I'm sorry." I shake my head. "This was his plan. We knew what would happen. This is my fault. God I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault. You didn't know he would do this." Kian kneels down beside me. "But I did. I knew someone would get hurt or even killed. He's to powerful for us. We can't beat him, there's no hope." I shake my head. "We can beat him. You can beat him." He takes my chin in his hand and tilts my head up to look at him. "You can beat him, you can end this. You're powerful, Jade. You're stronger than him in every way. I'm sorry for what happened to Wes I knew you two were close, but you can make sure he didn't die for nothing. You can beat Dampyr and you will. I believe in you. Okay?" He nods. "Okay. I love you." He smiles. "I love you."

"We can't leave him here." I wipe the tears from my cheek. "I got him." Harry picks him up, cradling him like a baby. "Come on. We gotta go." Kian helps me to my feet. "Darcy helped him. She held me down and I couldn't save him." I lean my head on Kian's shoulder. "That's how it's gonna be unless you stop him. Jade it could've easily been you. You think I wanted to fight my best friend? I didn't but I had to. They are with him until he's dead. As soon as he stops breathing they'll be back to normal I promise." He kisses the top of my head. "I'm gonna stop him. No matter what it takes. I promise I'll stop him for you, me, the packs, Darcy, Sam, and for Wes. I'm gonna kill him."

--Dampyr's POV--

"Good work Darcy. I didn't think you could do it." I put my arm around her. "I'm not happy about it." She shrugs my arms off of her. "Well you should you were great. I'd love to reward you." I smirk putting my hands on her hips. "I don't fucking think so." Sam pushes me back. "Woah, Samuel. Down." I smirk. He backs away. "Good boy." I wink at him. "What now?" Darcy asks. "Now?" She nods. "Now it's time for the grand finale. Me vs Jade." They raise their eyebrows. "What about us?" They ask. "I don't need you guys anymore. You served your purpose." I wave them off. "So we can go?"

"Yea but there is one more thing I need from you." I point to Darcy. "What?" She asks. "Since I killed Wes, they will be taking him back to Ohio and I need you to give a message to Jade. Can you do that?" I ask. "Yes."

"Tell Jade to meet me where she gained her power as an Alpha and that's where I plan on taking that from her." Darcy nods her head, takes Sam's hand and leaves. "Oh I'm gonna miss those kids."

--Kian's POV--

"The clearing? Why is it always the clearing." I huff. "I don't know man." Sam shrugs. "Okay well it's great to have you back I guess. Sorry about the warehouse." I put my hand on his shoulder. "Me too."

"Can we see Jade?" Darcy asks. "I don't think that's such a great idea. She's pretty upset about Wes and how you helped with that Darcy. Just give her some time." She nods. "Okay." She frowns. "I gotta go but I'll see you guys around."

"Dampyr wants the fight to be at the clearing. He said he wants it to be where you gained your power as Alpha and that's where he's going to take it from you." She's sitting in a chair next to Wes's body. She hasn't moved since we got back. "When?" She asks not taking her eyes off his dead body. "Tonight. During the full moon." She nods. "Good I'll have a little advantage."

"Yeah and so will he. You still need to be careful, Jade." I pull up a chair next to her. "I'll be fine. I'm gonna end this tonight." She snaps. "Sam and Darcy are back. He let them go. Just like that, that could mean something. Why would he just let them go? For good behavior? No. He has something planned, Jade. You need to be careful!" I raise my voice.

"I have been careful! I've been so careful that I let my best friend hold me down while I watched Wes die! Right in front of me while I was useless!" She turns to me. "I'm tired of being careful." She gets up from the chair and walks out of the room without another word.
