Chapter 21

--Jade's POV--

"I'm sorry I've been away for awhile and you've had to deal with Carsen. I came here to tell you that I'm still your Alpha and I intend to come back and continue my role. I also want to make a promise to all of you." I yell from my office balcony to my pack members in the yard.

"I promise you that from now on I will give everything I got to protect everyone here because you are my family and I'll do anything, absolutely anything for my family. Understood?"

Yes's are mumbled throughout the crowd. "Dismissed!" Everybody scatters off, except one person who is standing with his hands in his pockets staring up at me with a smile on his face. Jared. 'Good to have you back.' He nods and walks off.

I walk into the office and sit down in my chair. I pull out my phone and call Kian. It rings twice before he answers. "Okay I know your probably mad at me for leaving and not telling you, I'm sorry. I love you."

"I love you too and I'm not mad. Actually I'm at the pack house right now, sorting some stuff out. Have you got anything?"

"You're at the pack house, that's great. How is everything?" He asks ignoring my question. "Everything's fine. Have you found anything, Kian?" The line stays silent. "Kian?" Silent. "Kian if you don't answer I'm coming after you."

"No. Nothing yet, I'll let you know if I find anything, but if you could send Harry here that'd help."

"Yeah, sure I'll send him. Be safe Kian, please. Call me if you find anything?" I bite my lip. "I will babe I promise. I love you, I'll see you soon."

The line goes dead and I call Harry. "Jade?" He answers on the first ring. "Hey Harry I need your help."

"What is it? Is everything okay?"

"No, something's going on that Kian won't tell me about and he's gone after Carsen and Wes. He's heading to Seattle and he told me to call you. Can you go and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid and reckless."

"Of course. I'll leave here in a little bit."

"Thank you Harry. Be safe."

--Kian's POV--

I couldn't tell her. I couldn't even get the damn word out of my mouth. I didn't tell her, her best friend is alive. Hell, I couldn't. If I did she would be here in two seconds if I told her that. I can't have her getting hurt. I don't know what I'd do with myself if I let anything happen to her.

"Kian. Whats going on?" I turn around to see a naked Harry. "God damn it Harry put some clothes on." He chuckles and puts on the t-shirt and pants he brought along. "Sam and Darcy are alive. There in the Museum of Myths and they need Wes and Carsen off their trail."

"Okay. Do you have a plan then?" He asks standing next to me looking at the Museum. "Yeah, but it's gonna involve some fighting." I turn toward him. "I'm always down for a can of whoop ass." He smirks. "Alright I'll let Sam know." I walk over to a pay phone on the other side of the road. He picks up on the second ring. "Hello?" He answers out of breath. "Sam we have a plan." I can hear yelling on the other end. "What was that? Sam what's going on?"

"Kian they're here and they're after us. Darcy got cut on her shoulder but it'll heal in a matter of minutes. I don't know how much longer we can hold them off." He breaths into the phone. "We're on our way, what part of the museum are you in?"

"We're in the.....shit." There was the sound of these crashing on the other end. "Sam?" No answer. "Sam!" The line went dead. "Harry lets go!" He runs to the other side and we both enter the museum. After following the sound of glass breaking and yelling we came across Wes pinning Darcy against a wall and Carsen slamming Sam down on the ground.

"You get Wes." I run over to Sam and push Carsen away. He gives me his hand and I pull him up. "Get outta here, we'll take care of them." I pay his shoulder. "Thank you." He nods taking Darcy's hand in his and running. Carsen gets up off the ground. "You don't know what you're doing Kian. They're working with him. Why do you think they didn't tell you? They don't want you to know because Sam would know that you would never forgive him. He's gonna get inside your head and make you think that I'm lying and turn you against everyone even Jade if he has to. I know you don't trust me after what I've done in the past, but please believe me when I tell you your best friend is working with him."

I take Carsen by the throat and hold him up. "Why should I believe you?" Harry walks over with an unconscious Wes. "Why should I believe you!" I yell after I don't get an answer. "Let him down Kian!" I turn my head to where the voice came from. "Put him down." I drop him. "What are you doing here Jade? I told you not to come." She chuckles and shakes her head. "Haven't you learned already that I don't follow the rules."

"Why are you here?" I ask as she walks over. "Wes called and told me that you and Harry were attacking them. I came to find out what you all are hiding from me." I look over at Wes who is now conscious.

"Tell her Kian." Harry says putting his hand on my shoulder. "It'll only put her in more danger." I look around at Jade, Carsen, Harry, and Wes. "Do none of you see that! For fuck sake. I'm trying to protect her and now all of you are willing to put her in danger!" I pull my hair. "She could die, do none of you see that?" I can feel the tears rolling down my cheeks. I turn toward Harry. "You're my brother and you're okay that the love of my life will be at the risk of getting killed. You know what will happen if she dies. Do you really want to go through that?"

"You really think that I would like to see my own brother lose the only person that means the world to him. It'd kill me to see you like that, but I would tell her so she knows who's still out there and waiting or her."

"What if it was Kelli? Would you put her in this kind of danger?" I point at him. "This isn't about Kelli, Kian! God damn it just tell her!" He throws his hands up in the air. "Fine but when she dies I hope you know that I'll die too. I won't live in a world without her in it." I turn around at look at Jade. "What's going on Kian?"

"Harry and I were fighting Wes and Carsen to save Sam and Darcy." She gasps. "They're alive." I nod. "I didn't tell you to protect you. Sam and Darcy are working with someone who wants you dead."

"They wouldn't do that Kian. Don't say that." She shakes her head. "I didn't want to believe it either but it's true. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier I was gonna deal with it myself. I just wanted to keep you safe." I wrap my arms around her. "What if you got killed?" I hugged her tighter. "As long as you were safe I didn't care."

She pulls away. "Who are they working with?" I look over at the guys. They all nod and I turn my attention back to Jade. "Who?" I sigh. "They're working with Dampyr."
