Chapter 16

--Sam's POV--

"I told you everything I know!" I yelled at Kian. Ever since I got back from Darcy's, Kian has been asking me questions about Jade since he caught her scent when I walked in. "I told you, she was sitting on the couch and I sat on the other couch. I said 'Hey Jade' and she said 'Hey' then she left. That's all that happened. If you are so interested in what Jade is doing all the time why don't you just go and apologize and make everything right?" I ask.

"She won't forgive me." He says as if he is 100% positive that that's what she is going to say. "Kian, you guys love each other more than anything, right?" He nods. "Then why wouldn't she forgive you. If she loves you as much as she says then she would forgive you in a heartbeat. Just go apologize and see how it goes. I bet that you guys will be back to normal by the morning." I say shoving him toward the door. "Ok. Ok I will go apologize but if she doesn't forgive me then I don't know what else to do."

"You'll do great, now go!" I yell at him as I shove him out the door and watch him disappear in the trees.

--Kian's POV--

"You can do this. Just apologize, she will forgive you. You'll be back to normal by the morning." I keep repeating to myself as I approach Jade's window. I take a few deep breaths as I try to break through her mind barrier. 'Jade. Jade, I know you can hear me. Open your window, please. I need to talk to you. Please.' I cross my fingers and hope that I broke through.

I'm more than relieved when I hear the click of her window being unlocked and her head sticking out the window. "Kian what are you doing here?" She asks looking worried. "I need to talk to you, please." I beg. She whispers an 'ok' and back away from the window. I take a couple steps back and jump up to get into her window. I close it behind me and walk over to sit next to Jade on her bed.

As I sit next to her she starts to scoot away from me but I grab her waist and scoot her back toward me. "Stop trying to keep your distance from me, it's killing me." I whisper as I brush a strand of hair out of her face and behind her ear. "What did you want to talk about?"

"I'm sorry." I say getting straight to the apology so we can be back to the way we were. "Kian, don't do this. Not now, I've just started to separate myself from you." She shakes her head and stands up. "Why would you want that? You know it's just going to hurt both of us even more." I say standing up and taking her hand in mine. I'm relieved when she doesn't pull away. "I know but I need this right now and you need to worry about the pack leader. There won't be enough time for an us. I'm sorry."

Before she can pull away from me I crash my lips into hers. Feeling the electricity between ours lips after all this time apart has been amazing. She is the first to pull away. "Why do you keep doing this to me?" She groans. "I don't know what you're talking about." I smirk.

"Kian I can't." I shake my head. "Yes you can you're just trying to convince yourself that you can't. You love me right?" She nods. "You want to be with he right?" She nods again. "Then what is the problem?" I ask. "I can't keep going in this cycle with you."

"Ok then I promise that if you give me one more chance that you won't regret it. I'm not gonna mess it up again, I promise. I'm learning to control my new wolf. I'm not gonna hurt you again." I say taking my hands and putting them on each cheek to make her look me in the eyes. "You promise?" She whispers. "I promise." As soon as the words leave my mouth, her lips are on mine.

I break away from the kiss. "I love you." She smiles. "I love you too." She brings her lips back up to mine.

--Jade's POV--

"Kian!" I yell as he jumps on the bed. "Wakey,wakey baby." He laughs. "God you're a dork." I laugh as he kisses my cheek. "Yeah but I'm a cute dork, now come on your mom is making breakfast." He says tossing me some clothes, as he puts on some shorts.

We made our way down the stairs hand in hand as my mom was setting the table. "Good morning." She smiles. "Morning." Kian and I mumble as we take our seats.

Soon after the food is on our plates, Harry and Kelli walk in. Kelli says her good mornings while Harry just stares at us. He sends smirks my way and a couple winks to Kian. Kian and I just laugh and shake our heads as everybody starts to dig in.

"I can't go back right now. I've only been gone for a couple of days. I need more time." I say after Kian tries convincing me to go back to the pack house. "Carsen is pretty much Alpha now. In a few days I won't be an Alpha anymore and I'll go back to being a Beta. So I don't even know if I will go back."

"You don't actually think that your pack is gonna let Carsen be Alpha again, do you?" He says getting irritated. "Kian please just let it go. Why does it matter so much?" I groan. It haven't even been 12 hours and we are already getting into an argument. "Because I don't want an asshole to run your pack and I know that you don't want him to run it either."

"Kian I really don't care at this point, honestly. I'm just tired of arguing with you about all of this stuff. What I decide is my decision and I hope you stand by that." I don't know why he gets so upset when I decide against him. He makes a decision on something and I usually give my opinion which may or may not always agree with him.

"Ok." He lets out a sigh. "Thank you." I wrap my arms around his neck. "I love you." He smiles and wraps his arms around my waist. "I love you too."

--Kian's POV--

"How was it?" Sam asks as I enter the kitchen. "She's giving me my last and final chance." Sam doesn't seem surprised when I tell him. "I told you." He smirks. "Next time don't take so long and just do it."

"There won't be a next time cause I'm not gonna fuck it up again. I promised her." I tell him. "Well I'm really happy for you Kian." He smiles and pats my shoulder. "Thanks Sam. So what's on the agenda for today. Are we going for a run, video games, or go to the lake?"

"All those things do sound fun but I can't." His smile turn more into a frown. "Why?" He looks down at his feet then back up at me. "I'm going back to California." He gives me an apologetic smile. "For how long? A couple days? A week?" I ask but he shakes his head. "I don't know how long I'm gonna be gone but I need to leave tomorrow morning."

"Oh." That's all that comes out. I can't believe that I had got my best friend back and now he is leaving again. "I'm sorry I waited to tell you, but imagine how Darcy will feel when I go tell her tonight." He rubs the back if his neck. "Will you be okay being away from her for so long and far away?" He shrugs his shoulders. "I'm thinking about asking her to come with me because I won't survive a day without her."

"Keep me posted on everything while you're there and if you need anything it'll only take me about three hours to get there." He nods his head and engulfs me in a big bro hug. "Thanks for everything Kian. You have been the big brother I've always wanted." He pulls away. "Thank you Sam and you have been the little brother I've always wanted."

"Alright let's not get to mushy in here." Sam laughs. "I'll see you soon, bud." He smiles and with another pat on my shoulder he leaves out the door.
