Alani Acaito Baros is a lot of things. Tired, drained and depressed but those didn't matter because she has a family to provide for. From early she played the role of a mother and a father and she still continues to parent, regardless of the pain and the quiet voice in the back of her head telling her to be selfish for once and become Alani and not just the guardian of the Baros family. She shut that voice up a while ago
So now, she quickly rushes down the creaky stairs of their fairly broken house at 6am, shaking the tiredness off of her to prepare for the same routine she's been doing for as long as she remembers . Get up, make sure the kids are alive and well, work her ass off and never let anyone in. She is all she has and that is enough for her.
"For fucks sake" Alani muttered as she quickly scanned over the mess and alcohol that spread across the kitchen. The house was dark, the only light coming from the rips of the purple curtains. But it was enough light to fuel the burning anger rising up the more at the state of the house. Instantly she knew what had happened, the man she once knew as a father but now stranger must have snuck in at midnights. This man knows not to come into her home when she's around so he shamelessly partied whilst she was working to provide for the family he made.
She couldn't help the single tear rolling down her face as she just felt like breaking. Her hard work. The long hours of endless cleaning-all ruined by a selfish man. That feeling was short-lived and that single tear was all she allowed and hurriedly cleaned it up along with starting the kids breakfast.
Breakfast, which consisted of five plates of scrambled eggs toast and orange juice, was sprawled across the brown dinner table. Alani often skipped breakfast and could not care less if it was the most important meal of the day. In reality however, she essentially never cared for her health nor has she had time to.
The clock now to ticks to 7am and she hears the quiet patter of feet walking towards the kitchen and the opening and closing of the fridge. Raina is always the first of the gremlins to wake up, just for her skincare. She ices her face every morning because she claims it makes her skin better and helps her start the day calm. But she must be doing something wrong because she is never calm.
"Everyone wake up and get ready! School starts at 8:15 so you can't wake up at 11 today you shits! Everyone up and ready your breakfast is getting cold!"
A chain of curses and groans shortly followed after Alanis annoyingly loud wake up call.
The clock now ticks to 7:33 and it seems like a herd of elephants rush down the stairs and the smells of boys hits Alani straight in the face.
"Good morning Lani" exclaimed Theodore as he run towards his big sister and embraces her.
"Morning Theo go eat your breakfast before it gets cold it probably is but I'm sure you'll live"Alani smiled at how adorable the boy is. "Hm the 7 year old was thoughtful enough to say good morning to the amazing woman who keeps a roof over your head" A low grumble of good mornings came shortly after.
"Good enough"
"I don't want to go school what's the fucking point of it" whined Oscar,"I'm never gonna use this shit in the real world"
"Well you dumb fuck, you're gonna need the grades you get from school to be able to survive in the real world. Come on man be smart I know those last few brain cells are working real hard" Raina replied as she walks into the kitchen and begins to eat her cold breakfast.
"Alright enough swearing. Olivia, Camilo you need to wake up and start moving. Come on, tell what you guys are up to today while I deal with Karen's all day at the Diner" Alani said whilst rolling her eyes at the last bit. She would rather work at her other job-the cafe book place- rather than a sticky diner.
"Lani you know me and Oscar can help out. Just accept the offer for fucks sake" Olivia exclaimed, tired of seeing her oldest sister and mother slowly wither away.
"Yeah Lani we don't mind"
"Thanks guy I appreciate it but you just focus on having a child slash teen hood. Just because I gave it up doesn't mean I'll force it on you guys. " She then paused to look at the clock "So please, you all have 10 minutes to tell me about your day."
Camilo shot up as he remembered the fun he will have at school. He's known for causing a fair amount of mischief, little fucker.
"Just a normal day for me sis" He shrugged while chuckling evilly in his head.
"Cami, be-fucking-have I mean it. I can't afford skipping work again and having to speak to your school principal about you doing some psycho ass shit like hitting the students with rocks you decorated. It won't be good for you, you understand?"
He smugly replied," Mmm I'll see how I feel," however after seeing Alanis eyes twitch and he deathly glare he nodded and said " Understood" rather sadly.
"Great. I don't really have the time to hear the rest of you guys day but I'll come check on you tonight and you can tell me about your day. Remember, if you need anything just come down to the diner and behave guys. Have a great day, I love you guys so much. Bye!" Alani quickly said as she gave a sweet kiss on everyone's forehead, gathered her stuff and ran straight out the door. She didn't bother waiting for any goodbyes.
This was the morning of Alani Acaito Baros. The same as the day before and the days before that.
So now she head toward another endless, tiresome and boring day of work. The same as the day before and the days before that.
