"Where is that Alani"

"I'm right here. Sorry for the lateness, I  lost track of time talking with the kids ,Mrs Kinnor, you know how those gremlins can be."  Alani quickly says as she rushes to the back room to grab her apron and waitressing equipment.

"It's alright sweetie,  let's focus now though it's about to get busy" Mrs Kinnor replied sympathetically. She really did feel for the girl. Alanis been working for her busy diner since she was 16. What she absolutely cherished about the poor girl is her bravery; Mrs Kinnor watched this girl go through the highs and lows of parent hood when she was supposed to be rebellious in her teen hood.  So, she's a bit more lenient on her and the old woman is known for her strictness and need for perfection. She also has quite the soft spot for Alani.

She also worries for the young girl. While she admired Alanis resilience and hard work she knew that it comes with endless days of work and parenting and no time to take care of herself.
The old hag knows her unhealthy routine

Work a 9 to 5 at the diner and a shift (6 to 11) at the café for most days in the week. But, on Wednesday and Saturday mornings she takes it kind of easy. Only a slight. She spends those mornings helping a family of four run their cute bookshop. From carrying boxes, sorting book , sorting shelves and the dreadful cleaning - she still works an unhealthy amount but she doesn't mind. She find peace in indulging in a better life she finds in books. Even though she hardly has the time to read, she likes the mood of the bookstore-it's calms her.

But today is sadly Monday morning. The most hated morning for every sane human.

Alani gets straight into waitressing as if she was born to do this. But she really wasn't, she can go way more further than being a silly waitress.

Everyday a part of her happiness chips off as everyday is filled with the constant "Hi's" "may I take your order" and especially,

"How can I help you"

She says with annoyance she doesn't know whether is fake or real. Staring at the boy she's known for so long she unknowingly created an unwanted attachment to, she couldn't help feel a rush of joy and dare she say love. As normal however, it left as soon as it came. It's not like she wanted this to happen, she never wanted to call him a brother, but she did and couldn't help it.

He became a regular at the diner the same time  Alani started working there. They both watched each other grow. One watched the other become something amazing and climb all the way to the top. However, one watched the other lose themselves. One watched the other care so much about their family that they forgot to care about themselves. The man loved coming to this diner for many reasons: the food, the motherly love Mrs Kinnor offers but the most important reason is to check up on his stranger sister Alani.

In a way you could say they were alike. They both have the most deadly but enchantingly beautiful green eyes. They share a soft slightly textured dark brown hair that they hate when people touch. Not only that but they tend to be brutally honest to people and sometimes nonchalant. Though, they have very different reasons as to why they are cold. He stands at a very proud height of 6'2 and ( we mustn't forget) a half whilst she stands at a height of 5'6.

He never fails to boast about this height difference-much to Alanis annoyance.

You would almost always see him wearing formal clothes due to his work. Sometimes though, on rough days he'd come to the diner in sweats. It tells everyone that it's been one of those days, but it's only a part of life. It's natural. So, when it is one of those days, Alanis sister side comes out and teases him only slightly less whilst showing that she cares. So much. Mrs Kinnor smothers him with her motherly affection and feeds him until he's about to explode. Normally, those days end with him and Alani on the roof of the diner ready to jump off.
