𝗟𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝗳 | 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀

𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻, 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗵.

It had been months since they faked the twins' deaths and handed them off to Rebekah for safekeeping, Adalyn had felt as if she was robbed from seeing them grow and she was barely coping. Klaus had become somewhat distant but when Adalyn talked to him, he was calm and at peace.

"What do you think you're doing, Elijah?" Adalyn asked from the nursery door

"Welcome back, the third night this week?" Elijah questioned as he packed

"I don't need a caretaker, hybrids are invincible, right? What are you doing, Elijah?" Adalyn asked in a tone

"As we have discussed, our illusion needs to be flawless and now, months have passed. It's the appropriate time," Elijah spoke as she scoffed

"What's next on the appropriate list? Klaus and I hold our heads up high and say we're ready to try again?" Adalyn questioned as she crossed her arms

"I understand this is difficult for you..." Elijah started to speak

"What's difficult is knowing that Francesca Guerrera is still breathing after she was the one who plotted with the witches to kill my babies," Adalyn shouted at him

"You will have your vengeance, I promise you this," Elijah spoke in a comforting voice

"Well, until then, this is my room, and I'll tell you when it's appropriate to clean it out," Adalyn stated to the vampire

"If they believe they can get their hands on the stake, they will come for me when I am weak and each ring you retrieve will strengthen me, but I will still be at a disadvantage," Klaus spoke as he walked in

"Ergo, any hope of our success depends entirely upon our working together so the two of you can no longer afford to be distant from the world," Elijah stated looking between them

"This is our fight, are you ready for battle, Lynn?" Klaus asked looking at her

"Just promise me that Francesca doesn't come out of this alive," Adalyn stated with a sigh

"Her head will be delivered to you on a silver platter, little wolf," Klaus stated with a smile

"I'll deal with the last piece of the puzzle," Elijah stated before walking off

Adalyn had bent down to the boxes and started to unpack everything, she hated to see the room so bare after they had such huge plans for them. She hated how everyone expected her to be over the events by now but she couldn't.

"How are you holding up?" Hayley asked the Hybrid

"As good as I can be," Adalyn spoke as she drank her hot cocoa

"You lost your babies all in one night, it's okay to take time," Hayley spoke as Adalyn nodded

"Elijah started to pack up the nursery and it broke my heart to see him sitting on the floor with boxes," Adalyn spoke as her voice cracked

"Where is Klaus in all of this?" Hayley questioned as Adalyn shook her head

"He's becoming distant and cold, back on his murder streak," Adalyn explained with a sigh

"You'll get her and then you'll see them again, I have faith," Hayley spoke as Adalyn nodded

"I'll see them again but not for a while and that part is what scares me," Adalyn admitted in a hum

Adalyn didn't know how else to describe how she felt besides those words, it scared her that she was going miss everything and when they came back, she was scared that they wouldn't know who she was. She walked past Klaus' room but saw that he was painting so she just went on inside her room with a sigh.

"I can hear your thoughts from the other room," Klaus spoke as he walked in

"Just thinking," Adalyn half lied to him

"About?" Klaus asked as he sat next to her

"Henry and Hope," Adalyn admitted in a soft voice

"Thinking about how they are doing? How big they got?" Klaus named off looking at her

"Yeah," Adalyn agreed in a whisper

"Me too but I know that Rebekah is taking care of them the best she can," Klaus comforted some more

"Yeah, I bet she's doing a good job," Adalyn spoke with a smile

Klaus nodded as he laid down on her bed, pulling her closer and into him. She wrapped her arm around his side before closing her eyes to take a nap, Klaus kissed the top of her head before closing his eyes aswell.
