"How did you agree to this?" Cassidy questioned as they walked through the cold streets of Scotland.
"I didn't agree, it was my idea."
"Of course it was. You are still crazy mate." Cassidy said earning a nudge to her side from Riley. She had been out of rehab for barely a month and for her to come and tell Cassidy that she wanted to go to Scotland to visit Heather —a taken Heather— she was more than... confused.
However she had repeatedly told her friend that her intentions on coming weren't to be a home-wrecker.
She simply wanted to see Heather.
And maybe Paris if the opportunity arose.
"Are you sure you sure you don't want to stay at my nan's instead?" Cassidy asked as they walked inside the same hotel Riley had stayed the last time she came over.
"No I'm fine here, thanks for the offer, you should go there though." Riley said as she approached the reception desk with the blonde following behind.
"You don't want me here?" She paused her walking and stared at Riley's back. Maybe she was annoyed of Cassidy's presence and wanted space, that would be understandable. Doesn't make the pang on her chest disappear though.
"What?" Riley turned around almost immediately. "That's not it I just thought you would want to stay with your grandmother for the weekend. You already spent so much time with me I don't want to take you away from her more."
"I talk to her all the time she likes the peace and quiet at home since Alessia moved with Paris a few months ago, besides I'll still visit her later today." Cassidy looked away awkwardly. "Unless you need space which I totally understand."
"I don't, I like your company I thought that would be obvious by now." Riley gave her a small smile before resuming to the receptionist and booking a suite.
She took the key from the man behind the desk and Cassidy followed her towards the elevator. This was the suite on the floor just below the presidential suite—unlike last time Riley was here where she had gotten one on the second floor of the building.
The room was pretty much the same as the other one, two individual beds, a plasma, and a door that lead to the bathroom, but this room did have a better balcony—bigger and with better view of the town.
Riley put her bag on top of the small desk on the corner and took her phone out.
"I should be meeting with Heather in two hours, do you want to grab something to eat?" Her brown eyes met Cassidy's as she once again put her phone back in her pocket.
"No, I kind of want to lay down for a bit before we have to head out." Cassidy said and plopped down on the bed. Riley followed her action and laid beside her, both facing the ceiling. "What's on your mind?" Cassidy questioned.
"I'm nervous, I'm also sad."
"Why?"
"I really wanted it to work out with her, but it was over before it even had a chance to start. It's my fault I shouldn't have expected her to wait for me after knowing her for as little I did, it was unrealistic." Riley sighed and turned on her side—her hand resting under the side of her face. "My fault."
"Having hope is not a bad thing." Cassidy said to her... although she was also talking to herself despite her friend being unaware of that.
"No, but it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. Maybe I should avoid romance, clearly it's not for me."
"Don't give up on love just yet." Cassidy blurted out a bit too quickly. She wanted to scream, wanted to say it despite her many promises to herself that she would never admit her feelings to Riley, but it was moments like these that weakened her.
