"No mother I don't know when I'll be able to come by for a visit but I will let you know."
"Oh, that's alright then my dear." She said with disappointment clear on her voice. Paris could disappoint a lot of people in her life but knowingly doing it to her mother hurted her and beyond.
Her relationship with her mom wasn't the best, not because they would fight. They never fought, her mother wasn't that kind of woman - at least not to her. But they were rather strained from the other, always had been. However she loved her mom with her whole heart. She would visit her more often if it wasn't for her father. No matter how much she loved her mom she just couldn't stand her father for more than bare minutes.
"I'll come over before the holidays." Paris quickly said not wanting to sadden her.
"I understand if you can't."
"No, no, I can, don't worry about it. But I have to go now."
"Then I won't hold you anymore. Bye sweetie, I love you." She heard the usual caring voice of her mother say over the phone.
"I love you too mom. Bye." With that they hung up.
In reality Paris didn't have anything to do. All she did ever since she has been living in Scotland is absolutely nothing. Sure she still works, sometimes her father would call her to give her a task and she couldn't complain, she could only go and get the job done. They mostly are about tending and supervising the vineyards he had across Europe.
She can not stand her father but at least he doesn't bother her and instead just calls when he needs something from her knowing well she couldn't deny him if she wanted to keep seeing money on her account.
After she ended the call with her mother she remained on the balcony of her house scrolling through Instagram. She hasn't posted in the social media for over a year since she didn't want anyone to know where she was which felt weird at first but then as time kept passing not being active on the internet didn't really mattered to her anymore.
As she scrolled down she came up to a post that made the familiar feeling of guilt rise. It was of Chelsea, she had posted a photo of her, Blake and Elena with the caption saying 'family time with my girls.' Paris couldn't help but smile and feel sad at that moment. She missed her best friend and she missed her niece. But her fear of confronting Chelsea was big, after all she had let her down on one of the most important days of her life, without a goodbye or an excuse or even a congratulations afterwards. So she did the easiest thing; she ignored the problem.
She was selfish and she was a terrible friend.
Paris didn't like the post, she just closed the app, locked her phone and went back inside. She didn't know what to do, she had this big house - one of the most expensives in town and yet she was bored out of her mind. It was a lazy sunday so Paris didn't feel like going out also the weather was cold and it looked like it would rain at any time, giving her more reason to stay inside. After exhausting her mind on things she could do she just settled for watching TV.
An hour had passed of her watching cartoons before she heard the front door open and close. Paris knew who it was at that moment 'cause only one person had the key to her house. Then she felt they cushion besides her deep and the familiar smell of lavender hit her.
Paris turned to the baker girl who had become her current closest friend in barely a year of knowing each other. The blonde girl had a frown on her face and her arms crossed as she looked at the screen.
"Did you fight with Cassidy again?"
"I fucking hate her," Alessia said upset. Paris knew it wasn't the moment but she couldn't but find her friend utterly cute as a pout would subconsciously take over her lips accompanied by her frown. However not matter if she looked cute at this point of their friendship Paris knew better than to mess with an angry Alessia.
