Waking up to find Riley awake and looking up to the ceiling concerned Cassidy more than it should, she was overthinking and that worried her. She began to embrace herself for the upcoming rejection and speech of regret of what happened before she dared say something.
"Riley—"
"You fucked my ex." She blurted out making Cassidy's mouth fall agape.
That's one way to start.
Riley continued talking before Cassidy's brain got a chance to recover from what she said. "And now I fucked you... and your sister is dating my ex. This is not weird at all! I mean it was okay when it was just being friends but now it feels kind of weird because, who does this? How does someone ends up sleeping with the sister of your ex-girlfriend's new girlfriend —who also slept with your ex—? That sounds fucked up, but I am not surprised either, strange things happen to me often. Maybe I'm just rambling now."
"You regret sleeping with me then?" That was what Cassidy got from all that... and it hurt, a lot.
Riley blinked several times, her head shaking slowly. "No, I don't."
She knew she was overthinking... but this is the kind of situation you overthink!
Cassidy let out a sigh of relief and sat up on the bed, looking down at Riley she took a hold of her hand. "I'm not expecting you to return my feelings Riley, not even after last night."
Riley looked at their joined hands and then met Cassidy's icy blue eyes, looking at them under a new different light—she could see the longing in them now, the way they seemed like they wanted to memorize every aspect of her face. Like they were seeing the most beautiful thing on earth but in reality it was just far from it... it was just a damaged flawed Riley.
"I'm confused." Riley mumbled but Cass heard her loud and clear. "I don't know how to feel about you, I love you there's not doubt in that but I don't think I am in love with you."
Cassidy felt her chest constrict, she wasn't surprised but it doesn't mean it didn't hurt to hear. "I was not expecting you to return my feelings."
"It doesn't mean I would be against it... that I would not like to try and fall in love with you, because I do like you Cass... more than a friend should like their friend. That much I am sure of." She knew that the moment they kissed last night, Riley liked how Cassidy's lips felt against her, how Cassidy felt on and in her. She liked Cassidy.
Hope blossomed in Cassidy's heart at the sound of Riley's words—a smile slowly overtaking her face. "Really?" She couldn't believe it.
"I wouldn't lie to you Cass." Riley doesn't recall having ever lied to her, so why would she start now out of all times? She moved her hand up and slowly cupped Cassidy's side of the face with it—her thumb rubbing her cheek.
Cassidy's eyes closed—leaning against the hand and rejoicing at Riley's touch. "Let me try make you fall in love with me."
She knew she sounded desperate, but for Riley she would get on her knees and beg for her love if she needed to, all dignity seemed to face when it came to the brunette.
Riley smiled and nodded. She was ready to give love one more chance, "Let's see what you got Knox." She said making the blonde laugh wholeheartedly.
"You will see. What do you want to do today?" Cassidy asked.
"I want to go see Paris, I think am finally ready to talk to her again. I want to... talk to her again." Riley has long gotten over the french and now she just missed her as a person in her life. As a friend even if they have never been that before,
