When Katie woke up on the day of her birthday, she had a mixture of feelings. Happiness, because a whole day of attention on her, and a whole day nobody can tell her off for winding people up. The one day a year she's untouchable.

But also, sadness. Sadness that she's getting older, nobody enjoys that. But also sadness because there's no Tatum. She knew they were relatively new, but it feels like getting that small taster of the girl yesterday was almost like a tease. She got maybe 60 minutes with her, and that was it. It's like someone dangling what you want most in front of you, letting you play with it for an hour and then saying, no, you've got to wait.

Patience wasn't Katie's strong suit.

Rolling out of bed, she pulled on her training gear and went by her morning routine. Training gear, packing her bag, brushing her hair, and sending Tatum a good morning text, grinning big that the English girl had already texted her at one minute past midnight wishing her a happy birthday.

Making her way downstairs, she was greeted by two voices. For a split second her stomach did butterflies, thinking Tatum had been able to fly out earlier, but she soon recognized the familiar voice talking to her sister.

"Mornin'." Katie said as she entered the kitchen.

"Shit, you're not meant to be awake yet! Happy Birthday!" Her sister said with a jump, walking around the table to pull Katie into a quick hug.

Leah, the other voice in the kitchen, followed Ella's example. Pulling Katie in for a hug. "Happy birthday, mate." She spoke before giving Katie a birthday punch on the arm.

"Thanks...why are you here?"

Leah threw her arms up and rolled her eyes. "Can't I be a good friend and come to say happy birthday?"

"And drive you to training." Ella added, Leah glancing at her with a frown.

"And drive you to training." Leah confirmed with a sigh.

Katie glanced between the two and pursed her lips. "What were you talking about before I came in?"

"Trainers."

"Coffee."

Each of them spat out at the same time, glancing at each other with gritted teeth hidden by tight lips.

Leah stepped forward, spinning one of the rings on her fingers. "Ella...spilt coffee on my trainers."

Ella's eyes widened and stepped forward, nodding along. Sticking her hand on the table and purposely knocking her coffee cup slightly so it swigged over the edge of the table, splashing onto Leah's perfectly white trainers and socks. The older blonde took a deep breath and looked at Ella, giving her a glare only she could see.

"Oh no...I did it again." Ella said to Katie with a shrug.

"Yup. Did it again. On my trainers."

Katie glanced at the two without saying a word.

Ella clapped her hands together and walked forwards to start pushing Katie out of the kitchen. "You two should really get going, right? Have a good day at training, you can have your presents when you're home!" She said as she tried to push Katie out of the house, Leah now following behind.

"You two are being weirder than normal today." Katie mumbled, doing what she was told.

"You owe me a new pair of trainers, Mini McCabe!" Leah hissed under her breath, hoping Katie wouldn't hear.

Ella turned to her with a glare, sweat appearing on her forehead. She couldn't deal with this pressure. "Bill Tatum." She replied quickly. She pushed the two girls out the door and closed it after them, leaning against it as she took a breath before she needed to spring into action.
