XIV: Disaster at Twelve

Third POV

~Flashback~

A gentle breeze blew past as duo walked pinkie in pinkie across one of the local beaches a few miles away from Sacramento.

Wearing light button ups and shawls, Izuku and Katsuki basked in each others presence and silence.

It was obvious they to say something, but the right words just wouldn't come out.

Katsuki scratched the side of his cheek in awkwardness, wanting to hold the omega's entire hand, but didn't out of fear of scaring Izuku away.

Thankfully, he didn't have to fear as Izuku's hand slid further down and interlocked their fingers, though his eyes remained on his feet.

"When you asked me if I wanted to take a break from work and go out, I wasn't really expecting this."  Izuku murmured, as the sound of beach waves crashing echoed in the distance.

"Do you want to go back?" Katsuki solemnly inquired, hoping this wasn't too bold of a move, when suddenly Izuku's grip became tighter.

"N-no this is fine," Izuku dismissed, not wanting for this end just yet, "It's perfect, actually..."

Lifting his head, he turned to Katsuki, as the blond turned to face him as well,

"Thank you."

~Flashback End~

Izuku's hands laid clasped together, staring straight ahead at the stage.

This date was interesting, to say the very least.

He could feel Shinsou take glances at him from time to time, hoping to know if Izuku was enjoying himself or not.

Truth of the matter, Izuku was.

But he just didn't feel a real spark.

Not like when he and Katsuki first met, or like their first date.

On one hand Izuku really wanted to make it work out, but his mind simply couldn't help but compare Shinsou to Katsuki.

Bitting down hard on his inner cheek, he silently reprimanded himself for making yet another comparison.

Taking a quick glance at Uraraka who sat a few seats down in their row, just to give the two some privacy, he noticed the woman stared intently at her phone.

"...The intermission is coming up soon." Shinsou's sudden soft voice whispered in Izuku's ear, sending shivers down his spine, "You can run away from me then if you'd like, I'd take no offense."

Izuku took a gentle glance at him, nervously unclasping his hands and placing one atop of Shinsou.

"I-it's not like that." Izuku mumbled back, as suddenly the theatre lights began to lighten up, and the intermission had finally started for people to take a break or dismiss themselves with little disrespect to the show, "Honestly..."
