VII: Divide
Third POV
"Okay...okay...Not a problem!" Izuku's voice rang in the corridor of his home as he left his kitchen to talk to one of his work associates,
"I'll have the secure cash sent to you by one of my people later today, and we can make the final document exchange then."
With one last hum of affirmation, Izuku headed back into his kitchen, spotting his brunette best friend who'd finally return from Japan under his orders,
Ochaco Uraraka.
"Where in the world do you keep your steeper?" Uraraka scoffed incredulously, as she quickly rummaged through his cabinets and drawers for the particular item, "How are we supposed to drink this new tea from Yaoyorozu if we don't have it?"
"Did you check the tea cart?" Izuku inquired, nudging his head to the small golden cart parked in the corner with different assortments of his favorite tea blends.
With an awkward laugh Uraraka nodded, "Trust me, I knew that."
As she grabbed the clear cylindrical container and began to add the Jasmine and green tea mix imported from Japan as a send away gift from one of Katsuki's workers named Momo Yaoyorozu.
"So I know you were just dying to see me again," Uraraka clapped, "So spill it, how's it going?"
Izuku shrugged, staring at the small cookies Uraraka had brought for them to share.
"Disrespected at my last meeting and I feel unfit for the job." Izuku answered, picking up one of them, "I mean Uraraka you should've been there, I tried to stick up for myself but I felt like a total idiot."
"Thankfully for me, Todoroki, Asui and Iida were there but..."
The brunette gritted her teeth, watching as the hot water turned a green shade as she added the blend, "Yeah I should've been there."
"I oughta knock some sense into him, talking to you like that."
Letting the tea sit for a second, she looked at Izuku's dampened expression.
"Did you... did you tell Bakugo?" She hummed softly, her bubbly tone decreasing to fit the future tenseness of the conversation.
"He came to drop Haru off last night and I unloaded on him like a cannon during dinner, which by the way, was completely unplanned." Izuku noted, looking at his half eaten cookie, "I mean in my defense, even before we were married he'd be the one I'd always go to confide in."
"Is that wrong?"
Uraraka merely shook her head, deciding the tea had steeped enough before she poured into into the fancy china tea cups Izuku had laying around.
"Not at all..." Uraraka answered, "Unless..."
Izuku's eyebrows pinched, as he was given a knowing look from his friend.
"No. I'm not in love with him, Uraraka." Izuku solemnly spoke, taking his teacup, "We got married and had a pup and that didn't work out for us."
He then looked to little Haru, his sharp scarlet eyes bearing close resemblance to his sire. Finding himself in turmoil at the boy who's practically stolen Katsuki's face and hairstyle with the exception of Izuku's green color.
"We can be friends, but that's just about it."
He then picked up his cup, staring at the tea that rippled, "...I'm sure Katsuki feels exactly the same."
Uraraka observed Izuku as took a calm sip of his tea, and dare she say she observed a glint of sadness in his eyes.
"If you say so..."
~Flashback~
"Katsuki, I really don't want to have to argue with you on this one." Izuku spoke, his bangs shadowing his face as his fists clenched.
It was early morning.
Far too early where the sun hadn't even scratched the horizon.
Inside their shared bedroom, Izuku sat on the bed, staring at his husband who was about to jet off to Shibuya, Japan for one more meeting.
"Then how about we don't." Katsuki raised his eyebrows, staring at Izuku who fidgeted with his hands, "Izu, I'm doing what's best to protect Haru."
"When he gets older he'll need it, especially with the life he's about to grow into."
"Could this not wait til after he's born?" Izuku swallowed thickly, as if a dry pill had been stuck in his throat, "Katsuki, I'm only asking you to hold off until after I give birth."
"You heard what Dr.Chiyo said, this is a high risk one and I could give birth any day now-!"
"I'm not trying to downplay what she said, but it's a 13% chance that you'll give birth earlier than when you're originally due." Katsuki interjected, watching as Izuku flinched from his tone.
"And if I attempted to go with you or accidentally performed high-stress tasks that number could increase by seven times as much." Izuku simpered out.
Immediately softening it, Katsuki stepped forward and got down on bent knees, snatching Izuku's hands even though the omega struggled to get out of it.
"I promised you I'd protect my family, and I need to get it done now." Katsuki murmured, gently stroking Izuku's hand, "Word spreads like wildfire in the underworld, even with people we trust there's always a chance that word of Haru's existence will get out and people will want to target him because he's so young."
Izuku shook his head, finding himself filled up with defeat, "...I'm not telling you to not have the meeting at all, but I'm just asking you not to leave me."
"Not like this."
He then looked into Katsuki's eyes, seeing unwavering resolution in the prime alpha's eyes.
What was the point?
Gently tugging his hands back, letting out an incoherent whisper at first.
"You can go if you want to."
Without hesitation, Katsuki rose from the floor and pressed a kiss to Izuku's forehead,
"I will be back before you or Haru knows it."
He began to head for the door, keeping a prolonged hold on the doorknob before Izuku started speaking.
"...If..." Izuku stumbled out, lifting his head up, "If I give birth to Haru and you aren't by my side..."
"I will never forgive you."
