And here I was again lying in the Med hut. It had basically become my second house, just like the Slammer. I must say that if I had listened to the rules maybe I wouldn't have been in that much trouble.

The Med-Jacks, Minho and Alby were staring at me with crossed arms. I was almost sure that at any second Chuck would come even if they ordered him not to.

"That was so unnecessary Evelyn! Why would you shucking leave the glade? I told you to follow the rules for shuck's sake!" Alby screamed looking like he would explode.

Jeff didn't care about his leader and continued his questioning. "How did you get hurt?"

I was going to answer, even if my strength was slowly leaving me, but Minho cut me off. "She fought a Griever, I've never seen anything like this."

I looked at him. First, he wanted me to lie about what happened to make him seem like the hero and now he tells the truth?

"I thought you—" I started, but the way Minho stared at me made me understand I was better to shut it. "Never mind."

"It seems like the Grievers were scared of her, it's almost like it wouldn't hurt her." Minho continued looking at the ground.

"What?" I said. "They did hurt me, look at my leg! You said yourself it was from the Griever." Alby nodded, but let Minho continue.

"As soon as she got hurt, they left us alone for the night and I haven't seen any ever since. Something is going on with her and them."

Minho continued by describing what they looked like, the metallic pieces and the spider-like form. It was silent for a long time before someone finally broke it. He said he wanted to protect me, but I was certain he said so because of orders.

"You guys found her unconscious in the Maze, right? We don't know how long she had been here, but supposing she appeared the night since you didn't see her the day before, would that mean no Griever attacked her that night too?" Simon asked Minho who nodded at his words.

Alby crossed his arms around his chest and took a deep breath. "Alright, Med-Jacks, treat Evelyn so she can walk properly and we are doing a Gathering."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked them, breaking away from tiredness.

"Keepers and First-in-command gather to make decisions." Explained Jeff.

I stared confused at Alby not understanding why he would need to do so big for such little. "So you are going to do a whole meeting just to put me in the Slammer? Didn't know I was such a big deal."

"It's not just to choose your fate Asinego, we need to get everyone's opinion. Democracy you know?" Minho scolded me as if he expected me to know everything after only a few days.

"Talk about what stuff exactly?"

"No one ever survived a night in the Maze and you know that." He said. "And now we are two."

"Fine! Put me in the Slammer again, and even add Minho if he broke the rules! But why make a reunion now for a rule I broke?" I yelled at Alby for an answer that would truly be one, but the Asian wasn't over.

"Because I need you as a Runner."

It didn't take long before we were all gathered in the council room. The Med-Jack wanted me to stay longer, to ask what happened that night but I didn't reply to any of their queries.

I just wanted to understand what Minho meant by 'he needs me as a Runner?' He despised me for so long, wanted me to stop trying to be a Runner, now all of a sudden I was the perfect choice? I wouldn't complain, that's what I wanted, but I couldn't help but wonder what went through his head.
