When I finally stood up, it was slow and painful, but I couldn't return there. Every passing second, sitting there, got worse than it used to be. I couldn't run back to the glade, and I didn't even think I'd run again.
So I walked where I thought was the right way until I saw the familiar door. Hopefully, it wasn't too advanced in the day to get people worried about me.
No one seemed to care that I was back alone, walking, until a Track-Hoe pointed it out. I felt seen as if I was a burden. Like it was my fault if they were disgusted ed by me. But of course, they didn't know what happened, perhaps they weren't thinking that way.
Another Track-Hoe spoke up, but this time he went up to me. Newt. I haven't spoken to him in a while, but I guess he was alright with me.
"Evelyn? What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be running?"
"I... I came back earlier." I murmured.
"Does Alby know?" He questioned, leaning on his gardening spear.
Why does everything have to be about him? It's not that much of a big deal if I do something against his wishes.
"Don't tell him." I looked at him pleading, I haven't been locked up in the slammer for so long, and I wasn't planning on it.
"Isn't Hawk supposed to be with you?" He asked, but how could he know?
Hawk.
"I don't wanna know where he is, just run if you see him." It was dumb to say in the sight of his evident limping leg.
"What? What do you mean by that?"
"Just run." With that, I walked away, but truly I was going nowhere. Everywhere faces that looked at me seemed like his, his eyes never leaving my side.
Newt was confused, staying in the middle of the garden, wondering what was it supposed to mean. It wasn't complicated to understand, or maybe it was just easy for me.
I stopped in the forest, maybe there I would find peace. I found my tree, the same one I climbed up on my first day. I got up again, it wasn't any harder, if not easier.
From there, I felt like I could fly. The frogs from the small pond could swim, and the birds would escape. I took the habit of observing them, I thought birds could fly far far away, yet those never left the glade.
It would all be so simple to fly.
Or maybe if I jumped down in the pond, my problems would sink with me. But how could I even disappear when I wasn't even something?
So instead, I sat there until I heard my name being called. I couldn't move, I didn't want to, I just wanted to stay here.
But eventually, the calling got louder until it came right under my feet.
"Asinego, what are you doing up here?"
Great. Minho.
Obviously, It was he who found me there... How could we forget the first time we met, when I hurted pretty damn his ego.
"None of your business Pillock."
If he was going to use meaningless nicknames, I would too. Mean Hoe, pillock, it all rhyme the same.
"Drop the attitude, will you? They're looking for you."
"If they, include Alby and you, no thank you." I looked down to see his hand acting like a cap in front of his eyes to prevent the sun from getting into his gaze.
I thought I told Newt not to tell Alby, guess that's why they are looking for me. Who would miss another occasion to call me crazy?
"They found Hawk, he's gone mad." He sighed, even Minho knew he had been stunk...
