LANA MASON
My skin is slightly tacky with sweat from the effort it takes the make up my bed on my own, wrestling with the fitted sheet to get it over my mattress. I redo my unkept bun before stuffing my pillows into their freshly cleaned cases and toss both up at the head of my bed, then top the whole thing with my duvet. With a huff, I fall face down and smell the fresh cotton scent promised by my detergent when my phone vibrates on my nightstand.
Harry Styles: Hey
I smile like the stupid little girl with a crush that I am.
Me: Hey
Harry Styles: I know you're not supposed to come over until tomorrow, but are you busy tonight?
The butterflies in my stomach begin to flutter after remaining stagnant since the last time we spoke to each other, which was yesterday. Allison had a date with Brad so I went over to watch Jane instead of going to see him after work, but he called to speak to his daughter and we ended up talking all night after I had put Jane to bed. I missed him so much that it was truly humiliating.
Me: I'm not busy tonight
Me: What's up?Harry Styles: I was thinking you could pack your bag for the week and start one day early.
Harry Styles: I'm going to leave the restaurant a bit early tonight so I can make you dinner."Oh my God," I whine appreciatively to my empty apartment. Why is that so hot?
Me: That sounds amazing
Me: What time?Harry Styles: I'll probably start dinner at around 7:30, so you're welcome to come before then and keep me company or you could come closer to 8:00 when I'll be finished. It's up to you.
Me: I'll come at 7:30
Harry Styles: Great, looking forward to it
I send him a heart emoji and flail on my made bed, squealing in excitement before I get up to take a quick body shower. I'll admit that I was starting to get a little impatient wondering when we were going to have this "date" that he kept speaking of, but this might be it. I'm considering this to be it, anyway.
With that in mind, I decide to wear a casual cotton mini-dress and chalk it up to the warm weather. It's not a ballgown or anything, but I also don't want to wear something too dressy if this isn't truly a date and embarrass myself. So, I pair the dress with casual sandals and remove my hair from its bun to keep my natural waves. For makeup, I only apply a bit of blush and concealer where it's needed, as well as a few flicks of mascara before I begin packing for the week ahead.
Waiting for the appropriate time to head to Harry's apartment is torture. I already cleaned my place earlier in the day so I have nothing to keep me busy other than my phone, and that's when I decide to give the girls a call and tell them what's been going on with me and Harry. I haven't asked him if we're allowed to share the news with people who aren't Allison and Jane, but I don't think I can keep it to myself anymore. Especially not today...if there's any chance that we might finally cross that intimate line tonight.
"Hey," Maya answers.
"Hi!" Jackie sounds a bit more upbeat, per usual.
"Hey, what's up?" I bite down on my thumbnail.
Maya says, "I just got my nails done so now I'm at home making a salad. What are you guys doing?"
"I'm just finishing a run so I'm almost home," Jackie says.
