HARRY STYLES
Last Night
"I'm gonna be sick," Lana muttered under her breath as we stepped off the lift and made our way toward Allison's unit.
"Because of the pregnancy or because you're nervous?"
"Because I'm nervous," she whined softly, holding onto my arm. "What if she hates me again?"
"She's not going to hate you," I kissed her forehead as we stood in front of the door. "Are you ready?"
Her eyes closed for a moment as she took in a deep breath, smiling when I took that as my opportunity to kiss her lips. "Okay, I'm ready."
With her confirmation, I raised my hand to knock on the door and tried to feign confidence. I had high hopes for how this meeting was going to go, but I had my reservations as well. The first and most obvious thing to be nervous about was how Allison was going to react to finding out Lana was pregnant with my baby. I hadn't forgotten that she wanted another baby with me before she cheated, and I wasn't sure if that was a cry for help to save our relationship or if it was something she truly wanted from me. I was about to get that answer.
"Hey," Allison opened the door for us, none the wiser.
"Hi," I answered for Lana and me as we crossed the threshold, stepping out of our shoes. The multiple pairs of men's sneakers by the door made me feel better. That meant she and Jameson must still be going strong.
"What's up, guys?" Jameson spoke from the kitchen where he was seemingly washing his hands before he dried them and made his way over to the couch.
"Hey," Lana smiled tightly as we sat beside each other on the long part of the sectional. "Jane's sleeping?"
"Yeah," Allison chuckled and picked up her glass of wine from the coffee table. "She had a hell of a time playing in the rain this evening with James, so she was caked in mud and dirt."
"Lovely," Lana offered a nervous laugh.
"But what's up with you guys?" Allison tilted her head as Jameson sat close by her side with his arm extended across the back cushions. They looked good together. "Is everything okay?"
I nodded and looked at Lana, silently prompting her to tell the news. It wasn't that I didn't want to, but it seemed like her news to share.
"Well, I'm pregnant," she glanced between Allison and Jameson. The poor thing was nearly trembling.
"Oh, wow," Jameson smiled genuinely while Allison's brows arched. She made the briefest eye contact with me before she put on a smile as well, but it wasn't as big as her boyfriend's. I expected that much.
"Really?" Her voice sounded kind, not unimpressed or vengeful in any way. "Did you guys plan that, or?"
"Mm-mm," I shook my head. "It just...happened, I guess."
Lana nodded to confirm that. "I'm about two months along now."
"Wow," Allison nodded with that same small smile, zoning out on Lana's midsection. "Well, I mean, congratulations, right? Is this good news or bad news?"
"Good news...I think," Lana timidly answered. "I'm sorry, I just have to acknowledge that this is at least a little bit uncomfortable and awkward before I explode, but we didn't come here to say it and brag by any means at all. I just wanted to be open and honest about it, and we definitely wanted to tell you before we told Jane."
