after hearing about ellie's potential relapse from her roommate, i've checking up on her as much as i can. i haven't told our parents yet because one i know they will be ten times more worried than me and i don't want to overwhelm ellie with that and two tate and i aren't 100 percent sure that she has. tates been checking up on her as much as she can while i'm not able to be with her in person.

i'm taken out of my thoughts with someone smacking me with a gloved hand

"yo zegras you here?" i hear mason as i see jamie walking up to us

"yeah sorry just thinking" i respond, we'd just finish up practice. all of us getting out of our gear in the locker room as i continue sitting at my locker i hear jamie speak up

"hey trevor did you hear what coach said earlier?" jamie questions, taking a seat next to me

"something about athletic trainer intern" i don't really know what he's getting at with this

"yeah! isn't ellie going to school to be an athletic trainer?"

"yeah she is"

"you should mention her and ask the trainer about it" jamie suggested

"maybe, i don't know what she's planning on doing but i guess i can
bring it up"

"i know you're worried about her z, having her in anaheim might ease your mind a bit" he said

"yeah i'll mention it"

as jamie and i arrive home after practice, i grab my phone to give elodie a call, to tell her about the internship but also just to check up on her

"hey trev what's up?" she answers my facetime, i quickly notice that she is not in her usual dorm room

"where are you?"

"i'm at leo's why?"

"oh i'm just wondering, what've you been up too?"

"just a lot of school and practice. everyone's been signing up for internships i'm scared i'm not gonna get one"

"don't be scared ellie it'll all work out" i reassure her "speaking of internships, the ducks are looking for an athletic training intern for the season. you should think about applying if you haven't decided where you're going"

"that would be so fun trev" i see her eyes lighten up, but seconds later go back to their sad state again "but what about college, i mean it'd be hard to just move in the middle of the year"

"yeah but ellie everyone can see you don't enjoy it there. you're not hiding it from anybody" i say honestly, everyone can see her fading away. and i refuse to let that happen again

"trevor im fine. i would love to intern in anaheim but i mean i have so many things in oklahoma, like cheer and i'm still taking classes"

"there's so many options for school here. and you hate cheering at ou. you literally tell me all the time" i sigh out "i don't want to pressure you but i think leaving would be really good for you el"

"i'll think about it trev. i just don't know why you're so worried about me all the time. i'm fine here i don't know what you mean by 'you can tell you don't enjoy it here'" she scoffs out

"i'm always worried about you elodie, i'm your older brother that's my job"

"yeah okay trev, i have to go"

"okay ellie love you"

"love you too"

after hanging up the facetime call, i walk out my bedroom into the living room to see jamie sitting at the table

"she is the most stubborn person to ever exist i swear" i huff out, flopping in the opposite side of the couch jamie is on

"who ellie? whys that?" he questions

"i suggested the internship to her and she's so caught up in the weird leo kid i swear"

"do you even know the kid?"

"no she never mentions him to me or anybody. all i know is i don't like him because tate told me he is not a good guy"

"you gotta get her out here man"

"you just wanna see her you geek"
i laugh out, i know he has the hots for my sister, usually having a guy i play with wanting my sister bothers me. but i know jamie is a good guy so i don't even think id care

"bro genuinely i don't know what you're talking about" jamie rolls his eyes with a wide smile

"yeah whatever jimmy i can see it in your face"

"even if i had the hots for your sister, you said it yourself. she's stubborn and again she's your sister. can't be breaking bro code like that"

"we have a bro code? i wouldn't care if you two were a thing, i trust you j, i'll set you two up" i say winking

"yeah gotta get passed big boy leo first"

"yeah fuck that"
