~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The cold air envelopes Celestial's shivering body, as she pulls the thin blanket closer over her shoulder. Her tired, brown eyes follow the people passing by me on the ship, as she is sat, cradled by a threaded blanket over her head, by the steps of the dock.
She sighs a shaky breath, blowing on her freezing, pale hands to try and produce some warmth for myself, as her teeth chatter. Her half-opened eyes take in the sight before her, trying to focus on anything but the cold she feels attacking her limbs.
The young girl can see an elderly couple sat together on one of the benches, holding hands, while cuddled to each other's side for warmth. She looked over and see a middle aged man, trying to flirt with an obvious uncomfortable, younger woman, causing her to scoff quietly.
There's a mother on a bench, nursing a baby, cradling the child in a thick blanket, rocking the baby in her arms, while the poor woman shivers.
Celestial knits her brows upwards and can't help but feel sorry for the mother. She's barely covered and she looks dangerously pale, with a few bruises on her arms. And by the looks of it, it doesn't appear as if she has a husband.
Celestial slowly places her hand on her knee and weakly pushes herself up from her sitting position, clutching onto the railing of the stairs, as she approaches the young mother. "'Scuse me, miss..." Celestial uttered, in a strained voice from 26 hours of silence, causing her to clear her throat, as the lady flinched and looked up.
"Here.. you can have my blanket.." Celestial weakly smiles at her, her face feeling numb from frostbite, as she removes the blanket from her shoulders and wraps it around the mother's, as she just looks up in disbelief.
"Th-thank you, miss. You are too kind.." She stutters, gratefully, as Celestial just offer her a kind smile, before turning around back to where she was previously sat.
Celestial was now shivering even more, and she felt tears form in my eyes from how icy and raw her face and body felt. God... please don't let me die of hypothermia today.. she thought to herself.
She rubbed my arms with her hands up and down, praying that we were close to London. But what would be different in London? It's not like she had a plan or anything, and it's doubtful that the first door she knocks on will welcome her in with open arms.
She probably should have saved more money for a cheap place to stay, but she is determined to find him. Completely sure he'll still be in London. He has to be. As soon as she finds him she'll figure it out. Hopefully she'll find him tonight and he'll let her stay with him.
But she doubts she'll find him tonight. Which means she will most likely have to spend tonight on the freezing cold streets. She winces at the mere thought. Silently praying that someone will open their home to her. Just for tonight.
The ship further approaches into London, and the young girl stands up to walk over to the front of the ship. There's already two people at the front, taking in the view of the cold, dark sight that is London. It was nothing like when she was growing up here. It used to be warm. Bright. Lively.
