First Meeting- Sonic CD

Second meeting- Sonic Heroes (taking their Sonic CD rivalry)

Third meeting- Sonic Boom

Sonic and Metal first met in Sonic CD. Metal Sonic was built to defeat Sonic. Metal ends up kidnapping Amy and Sonic races Metal and wins, saving Amy in the progress. Time skips to their Modern selves, in Sonic Heroes, Metal Sonic ends up betraying Eggman and plans to take over the world, turns into Metal Madness and later Metal Overlord. Sonic transforms into Super Sonic, and with the help of his team, defeats Metal Overlord. At his defeat, Metal Sonic wonders why he can never beat Sonic. Sonic tells him to let him know if he ever wants a rematch and runs off. Since then, Sonic and Metal continue to be rivals (even in the tv show of Sonic Boom, where instead of taking the backstory of Sonic CD, Eggman builds Metal to trick the villagers that Sonic stole from them, news flash, their rivals in the show too).

Things I like about this ship/dislike.

-Much like Amy, I can see Sonic trying to see some good in Metal. In the Sonic the Hedgehog Movie, Sonic ends up trying to save Metal from dying after he ended up saving the President and Old Man Owl, but Metal claims that there is only Sonic and ends up dying in the lava. That means Sonic tried to save Metal and thought of him as another person rather than a copy of himself

-So, the only time I can't somewhat see these two wanting peace with each other is the boom version of themselves. Sonic is way too cocky and hot temped to understand someone Elses side of the story, especially if they are working for Eggman and Metal Sonic wants nothing but revenge.

-Sonic treats Metal differently than Eggman's other robots. Normally Sonic would destroy them without any remorse but for Metal, he always makes sure he is ready for battle.

Classic Metonic gets an 8.5/10
