ZANE LOOKED AT ME IN SHOCK. i had already taken skyler to school, and was fairly early due to the fact there wasn't even the slightest bit of traffic so we me and zane decided to talk.
"you're saying.. you got jay to.. eat?" zane says softly, he stares into my eyes, like he's trying to read my soul.
"yes.. it took some time but he was done with half the bowl under my watch." i respond, trying to send zane a nice smile, why was it so shocking? all i did was comfort him and he opened up.
zane chuckles and sighs heavily. "after months of doctors. you show up for a day.. and change their behavior. i thought you were nothing but a pretty face, i was wrong."
"oh." i simply state. great. what an half assed compliment.
"who's your next patient?" zane asked softly, i guess he sensed my change in mood.
i flipped through my clipboard and stopped when i landed on the picture of an beautiful young women. "nya.. smith."
wait. smith?
zane coughs awkwardly and rubs the back of his neck, "i'm sure everything will go well.. as well as it went with the others but. uhm. be aware of the smith's.. they seem to get.. touchy.. flirty.. with pretty doctors like you."
i could feel myself heating up softly. it's weird to just be seen as so attractive that even patients won't be able to control themselves around you.
"is that.. that bad?" i ask gently kicking my feet back and forth.
i could feel zane's stare on my lips drop down my body to my legs than back into my eyes. he stares at me into a minute, as if he was admiring me before he spoke, "you'll be alright.. if you call the guards in time."
"wait- what do you mean by that?" my heart drops as i utter this sentence out. i can't die- or be sexually assaulted in this place i have a little girl to stay strong for.
"read her files.. your session starts soon. i'll see you soon." zane says, gently squeezing my shoulder, i didn't even get to ask more questions about my safety before he walked away.
