And then i go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like, "i love you."

My heart raced as Skyler and I approached Cole's room, the memory of his previous attack still fresh in my mind. Yet, I couldn't deny the sense of hope that swelled within me, a belief that Cole had changed. The presence of guards outside his door provided a measure of comfort, allowing me to push aside some of my lingering fears.
I turned the doorknob, easing the door open with a soft creak. The sight of Cole within the room, his posture relaxed, awaited our entrance. I stepped inside, allowing the door to close gently behind us. Skyler, seemingly unaware of the past tension, confidently strode towards Cole, the very picture of innocence and trust.
Her arrival seemed to catch Cole off guard, his head tilting to the side as he studied her. I cleared my throat, feeling the need to introduce my sister. "That's Skyler, my sister," I said softly, watching Cole's reaction. His features softened as his gaze settled on her. A warm smile spread across his face, one that exuded a paternal aura.
"Hi there, sweetheart," he greeted her, his voice low and gentle. Hearing him speak, I couldn't help but imagine him as a father figure rather than the intimidating ninja, I'd known him to be. Skyler, oblivious to the complexity of the situation, simply smiled in return.
Skyler's enthusiasm was infectious, her curiosity shining through her words. "Hi! You're the Master of Earth, right? That's so cool." Her smile, a mirror of her playful demeanor, lit up the room.
Cole returned her smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Thank you." He then glanced at me, a hint of confusion in his expression. "Is there a reason, you brought your sister?"
My response was casual, accompanied by a nonchalant shrug. "It's a long story."
Cole's brow furrowed, concern and guilt evident in his features. "You're not scared I'll hurt her?" He hesitated, the memory of our past conflict lingering between us. "Especially after what happened between me and—"
Before he could complete the sentence, I moved quickly to sit beside him on his bed, my hand reaching out to ruffle his hair playfully. "You're not a monster, Cole." My words were firm but spoken with affection.
Cole's frown dissipated, replaced by a blush that crept up his cheeks. Unamused by the sudden display of affection, Skyler scoffed, then nimbly climbed between us, settling comfortably in the space created by our side-by-side bodies.
After a comfortable period of silence, Cole broke it with a confession, his voice soft and sincere. "You know, I always wanted to be a girl dad. If I had a kid, I'd prefer a girl, but you know, either way, I'd love them."
