MY HEAD WAS SPINNING LIKE NEVER BEFORE. sweat began to form on my brow as my heart raced, fear spreading through my veins like wildfire. i could still hear Master Wu's booming voice, shaking with anger, echoing in my ears. It was a stark contrast to his usual demeanor, one that was often calm and composed. Had i really gone too far this time? i'm sure if you could live with the consequences if i had. then again, was there really anything he could do?

as i approached kai's room, the knot in my chest grew tighter. kai had been in a better headspace lately, slowly recovering under the care of the asylum staff. i wanted to protect him, along with all the other ninja, to shield them from the chaos that seemed to follow me like a shadow. my worry for Kai was compounded by the fact that zane, who was always by my side, never showed up for our planned meeting. this wasn't like zane, did wu get in his head?

I ignored the nagging thoughts in my mind and carefully traced my finger along the door knob. The guards, who were normally stationed outside Kai's room, were nowhere in sight today. Was this Master Wu's twisted form of retaliation? It made sense - Wu couldn't directly harm me, but the absence of guards could potentially put me in danger if kai tried to attack me. damn wu thinks fast.

A heavy sigh escaped me, the weight of my concerns lifting even if just for a moment. I pushed the door open, the sound of the hinge contrasting with the hushed quiet of the room. My gaze met Kai's, his eyes alight with a cocky, mischievous glint. His smirk grew, challenging me, as if daring to approach him.

"Well, well... who'd you piss off, Prince Charming?" Kai drawled, rising from his bed and approaching me. His arm wrapped comfortably around my shoulder, grounding me in his presence.

His warm breath ghosted across my ear as he whispered, "The guards don't ever leave my room." With that, he pushed back onto his bed, the grin on his face daring and teasing. "We should take advantage," he suggested, smirking down at me. His charm threatened to disarm the tension that still clung to me.

"I suggest we don't," I scoffed, pushing myself upright from the bed. Kai followed suit, bouncing down to lean back against the pillows. Without warning, he gripped my wrist, tugging me down beside him.
