꧁ ༺𓆩♱𓆪༻ ꧂I HATE TO SAY IT, but the money wu has given me as pay, has been incredibly helpful. skyler was able to get any toys she ever dreamed of, and our fridge was always packed. wu had been paying me a lot, every paycheck i had gotten per week was over five thousand dollars.
oddly enough, there was an odd comfort to how my life had been recently. other than wu's desperate attempts at being some twisted villain, i had been bonding with my patients, making money and taking care of my sister well. she had even made multiple friends at school, in which she had told me about, apparently she's just made friends with an boy named karloff, and a girl named tox. so when i dropped her off at school today i was able to hold my head up confidently at the fact she'd be alright. it was almost enough to distract me from the fact i'd be seeing morro today, and garmadon if i felt up to it.
The cool autumn breeze grazed my cheeks as I stepped out of the car, the familiar sight of the asylum taking me back to the daily routine I've grown accustomed to. But something seemed off today. Lloyd's mother, was usually standing just outside the entrance, a warm smile etched on her face as she attempted to flirt with me. Yet, today she was nowhere to be seen.
I couldn't help but wonder if she had somehow picked up on my increasingly strained relations with her. The hints i'd given her to bond with lloyd, and not me. Perhaps her absence was her way of offering me space to focus on myself, rather than the awkward tension that hung between us. It wasn't right for her to treat me the way she does.
As I stepped into the asylum, the same two bodyguards escorted me through the halls, my eyes met with Zane's, and to my surprise, he looked distraught. His usual stoic demeanor had given way to visible distress. The guards relinquished their proximity, granting us some space, and Zane approached me with a frown marring his chiseled features. The seriousness in his voice was evident as he pleaded, "Y/n, can we talk please?"
"what's up?" i confusingly tilt my head, something about how zane is acting is scaring me.
My heart skips a beat as Zane confronts me, his gaze locked onto mine, concern etched across his features. "Do you not trust me?" he inquires, his fingers digging into his skin as he paces on the heels of his feet. His lip caught between his teeth, he looks troubled. "You've been acting different around me," he continues, frowning, "always seeming bothered by my presence."
I shake my head no, "I've just been busy with work, you know." Gently, I place my hand on his shoulder, offering reassurance. "I could never be bothered by your presence, Zane. I enjoy being around you, okay?" I try to convey my sincerity through my touch and words, hoping to ease some of his concern. but it doesn't.
