Jay's POV:
It was nerve racking watching Tori and Harper sit on opposite sides of Destinee, making sure not to touch her. They both looked nervous and I know it was something they weren't yet comfortable with because they know just as much as we do about their own gifts. Curses? If it almost kills them than it may be more fitting.
"How do we do this?" Harper asked, looking at Tori before glancing at Lomen. Oh, she's looking to Lomen for what exactly? Does she like him too?
"We're gonna give control over to our wolves, which means we have to shift. I've never shifted before-" she paused, looking at me with uncertainty before silently gulping, "but Corrina said she'd lead me through it." She seemed to have lost a bit of the anxiety, not all but enough to get her calm enough to explain everything.
If she's never shifted before then this is gonna be extremely painful for her.
"Harper, have you shifted before?" This was Dre who asked. She was leaned against Colby's chest, arms crossed while observing the situation. I guess it would make sense that Harper wouldn't have shifted before if Tori didn't, and they grew up in the same bunker and facility. When Harper looked up, I could just see it off her face that she hadn't.
"Alright, Lomen go to Harper. She's gonna need it." I sighed, walking to Tori who stared at me in confusion.
"What're you doing? Don't I need space to do it? What if I hurt you during my shift?" My beautiful crazy mate with all her questions. I just shook my head and placed my hand on her lower back. It's the one spot that I can touch without causing her more pain while she shifts. During a shift, all the bones are broken and reshaped into those of our wolves. Our muscles are strained, tightened, ripped, and reformed. After the first few shifts, you don't feel the pain anymore, but the first one is always the hardest.
"It's gonna hurt. Once you start, you can't stop or else it'll be ten times more painful next time. Are you sure you want to do this?" If she isn't ready, we can find another way. I looked around for a moment deciding that in the den, in front of the stairs, would be a great spot. It's a huge empty spot with only a rug at the door, a staircase about eight feet from the front door, and it's about ten feet in length. Her wolf shouldn't be taller than the average wolf which would be anywhere between two and three feet tall while being about six feet in length including the tail. We'll see if she decides to go through with it.
"I don't want her to die." There was confidence but also fear in her voice as her eyes landed on Destinee. She took a deep breath and nodded her head, standing awkwardly looking around. I looked over to see that Lomen led Harper to the center of the living room, in front of the fireplace and in front of the couch and coffee table. She has plenty of room too.
I could feel everyone's unease with this idea but if it does get out of hand, I know we can handle it immediately. I want to give them a chance to bring Destinee's wolf out. If her wolf can heal her and give her rest or bring her back to reality, then it's worth a shot. We don't need the rival pack to flip shit on us for her dying in our care.
"Are you gonna start?" I asked, watching her. I could tell she was scared and felt conflicted, but this battle was hers and hers alone, between her and her wolf. She nodded her head, looking down at the ground with that foggy look in her eyes. She's speaking to Corrina. I heard her gasp, her eyes changing to the usual whites of her wolf and back to her black eyes. Her hands were clenched, and I winced when I heard the first bone break. I rubbed her back, trying to sooth her as much as I could. She took it with ease though. I know it hurt her, a dull ache forming in my own body. She had tears in her eyes and her eyes seemed to be drowning in agony, but she didn't let one whimper, scream, or cry out. She did let out a lot of colorful words as she folded over, tears now running down her face.
I felt sympathy but also pride for how she was doing. My first time hurt like hell. No one was around so no one heard or saw how long it took exactly. To my shock though, neither her nor Harper now that I think about it, are making any noises. Aside from Tori's cursing. I could hear bone after bone crunch, break, and grind against each other. Soon enough though, an average sized female wolf stood before me. She had a mixture of black and brown fur, almost like a brindle coloring along her body with white eyes that had a soft glow to them. She didn't have pupils, just whiteness. When she plopped down panting from what just happened, I couldn't help but run my fingers through her fur. Her wolf is gorgeous, a coloring I had never really seen before.
Soon enough, I heard Lomen take a breath and turned to see Harper's wolf as well. Her wolf was a bit smaller than the average female but nonetheless still amazing. Her pelt was snow white with a black moon marking on her forehead. Her eyes were not the glowing pink as they were before but a light emerald green. I felt a weight lay on my lap and when I looked down, I found her head resting against my legs. Her pupilless eyes seemed to stare at nothing and everything at the same time but I can tell that it's both Tori and her wolf, Corrina.
"I know you may be tired, babygirl, but you guys didn't go through this for nothing." I hummed, looking at Destinee who was lying unconscious looking quite green and pale. With a huff, she stood and padded over to Destinee, sitting in front of her. So sassy in shifter form. Harper padded behind Destinee and did the same. Tori, or Corrina, let her head fall back and a beautiful loud howl sounded out, Harper soon joining her. It wasn't a usual howl though. Whispers spread around the room, making everyone look around in shock while the lights began to flicker. The windows were rattling and pictures swinging or falling off of shelves or the fireplace. This isn't normal. The cold energy that we felt in the field was brought forward once again, no one moving an inch. The lights in the room shattered so we were all encased in darkness. I could see Tori's glowing white eyes like a light at sea. She was staring directly at me and all I could see was the white glow moving like smoke around her eyes. Seeping from her eyes.
Soon a new glowing white figure showed up. A lot of them showed up after the first. There were some that looked like humans, some that looks like animals walking across the floor, and some looking like flowers or trees. As fast as they showed up, they were gone again. I might have been imagining things. I'll ask the others when they're done.
I noticed the glowing pink eyes that stood behind Destinee and finally registered the long painful whines of Destinee. The whispers were growing louder and were happening more, but I couldn't make out a single word being said. Is it even English? Where are they coming from?
One agonizing scream sounded, bones crunching and shifting, Tori and Harper now moving in slow circles around Destinee. Before I knew it, Destinee was laying in her wolf form between the two. Destinee was another white wolf with a very light blond fur mixed in. She was bigger than both Tori and Harper's wolves, standing at three feet and five inches tall and six feet long. Her eyes were open, and they were glowing a soft flower like yellow.
She appeared to try and stand but Tori's wolf growled slowly. Her growl didn't sound like a normal growl though. It had a predatory clicking noise behind it that made everyone take a step back. Why the fuck does she sound like a predator? It sounds crazy but it was almost like a dinosaur. It sent shivers down my spine, and I know that if I felt scared, amazed too but mostly scared, that the others did too. Harper's wolf looked up and whined softly, nudging Tori away from Destinee before laying down beside Destinee's wolf. Destinee's whining stopped instantly, and Tori's words rang through my head.
I think she can take others pain.
The lights remained out, but the shaking, trembles, windows, pictures, and whispers all stopped.
"Your mates a fucking dinosaur in wolf's clothing." Colby mumbled, drawing Dre closer to him and holding her. Dre didn't look scared though. Not one bit. She looks like she had seen this before.
"Dre, talk." That was Lomen who I guess had the same thought process.
