4 months.

4 months Angel was clean.

4 months all washed away in one unbearable night.

When Angel stumbled through the door, he was high out of his mind. He barely made it past the front of the hotel before collapsing onto the carpet. Everything was spinning, everything was loud. His head felt like it was going to explode and his stomach felt like it was about to leap out of his mouth. He had taken enough coke to kill a human, and washed it down with booze. Unfortunately, they were already dead. He would just suffer until it flushed out of his system.

Husk saw Angel, and immediately ran towards him. Angels fur was clammy and his body shook. Tears and mascara ran down his face as he clutched his stomach with his lower set of arms.

"Holy shit, Legs."

Husk spoke with concern, his apathetic demeanor immediately fading away. He picked up Angel off the floor, carrying him bridal style into the bathroom. Angel just buried his face into the familiar felines embrace, not daring to look him in the eye.

Husk sat the spider down on the bathroom floor in Angels room. Everyone had a personal bathroom in their rooms, something that Husk had always been grateful for. He knew Angels room and bathroom like the back of his hand, he had taken care of Angel after bad nights several times before. Grabbing a hair clip from the vanity, he gently pinned back Angels white tuft of fur.

Angel immediately lurched forward, emptying the contents of his stomach into the porcelain bowl. His body shook violently as he retched. Husk grabbed a fluffy pink towel from the shelf and dampened it. He took off Angels bow tie and laid the damp cloth over the back of his neck.

When Angel stopped puking, he started to cry. His body trembled with violent sobs as he choked out inaudible apologies.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry I'm sorry I-"

Husk gently hushed him, grabbing another towel and wiping the vomit that remained on his mouth before pulling him into a hug. Angel sunk into the embrace, his cries muffled by the felines chest.

"You're okay... I've gotcha."

Husk cooed softly, using his wings to enclose their embrace, making it feel safer for the broken demon. The bathroom tile was cold, and Angel shivered, moving as close as possible to Husk. He had stopped bawling now, his sobs replaced with quiet whimpers.

After 30 minutes, Husk picked up Angel and brought him into the bedroom. He collected a pair of pajamas and helped Angel change into them before coaxing Angel to lay down. Fat Nuggets curled up besides the spider, licking his face.

"I'm gonna get you some water, stay here."

Husk mumbled, exiting the room quickly. He grabbed a cup from the bar, filling it with water and ice. He practically ran back up the stairs and back into the room. He propped Angel up and held the water to his lips.

"Drink. Slowly."

Husk whispered, gently tilting the glass so Angel could drink out of it. Angel did as he was told, sighing contently as the water soothed his raw throat. Husk took it after a few sips, placing it on the bedside table.

"Feeling any better?"

Angel sniffled, nodding slightly. He wanted to feel better, and physically he did, but the mental toll it took broke him down. He tried to fight the tears, but eyes betrayed him as broke down again, curling himself up on the bed.

"4 fucking months... 4- 4 months of progress g-gone! I fucked... fucked everything up! I'm so... fucking weak!"

Husk listened to him breakdown, moving to sit on the edge of the bed. As Angel sobbed, Husk gently rubbed his paw gently on Angels shoulder.

"I'm... so... stupid... so fucking weak..."

"Angel..."

Husk whispered.

"...look at me."

Angel whimpered, followed by a long, drawn out sob. He looked up at Husk, his white fur soaked in tears. Husk moved his paw to gently brush away some of the tears that fell.

"I'm proud of you."

"I-I know your disappointed in me I- wait.. what?"

Angel stuttered out, biting his lips so hard it started to bleed as tears dripped down his face. Husk pulled Angel into another hug.

"I'm proud of you. You made it 4 months. Relapses are part of recovery, and... trust me, I know it's hard and disappointing. That feeling made me never want to get sober, so you're already a hell of a lot stronger than me."

Angel broke down harder in Husks chest, his cries loud and pained. Husks words resonated with him, sinking deep into his broken heart.

"A-a-aren't you... mad at m-me?.."

"No, webs. I ain't mad at ya. Look at me."

Angel hesitantly looked back up at Husk.

"I'm not mad at you. I'm proud of you. You're so fucking strong. Don't let one slip-up ruin your self worth. Don't let it discourage you."

"H-Husk..."

Angel tried to speak, but closed his mouth again, letting his head fall back into Husks shoulder with a quiet sob.

"I'm here, Angie."

Husk whispered, rubbing Angels back. In a moment of uncharacteristic affection, Husk pecked Angels head. Angels breath hitched, and he hugged Husk closer.

"Don't go... please don't go..."

"I'm not leaving, Angel. I promise."

Angel sniffled as the tears finally stopped. He yawned against Husk, closing his eyes. The events of the day catching up to him as he started to doze. Husk smiled, laying Angel back down on the bed. He sighed softly, glancing over at Angels small hellhound, who laid sleeping softly in his animal bed.

Laying down besides Angel, Husk left a respectful distance, but that distance was soon closed when Angel sleepily rolled into Husks arms. Husk allowed it, letting the spider cuddle him.

"Goodnight, Webs. Feel better soon."

Husk mumbled softly before closing his own eyes, letting sleep take over.
