Cause it's not romantic I swear

Husk assured Charlie, who nosily asked if Angel and Husk were a thing. He brushed it off, scoffing as if that assumption was completely insane. Angel was just a member of the hotel, another loser, and friend at most.

I'm not gasping for air

When Angel comes downstairs in a long silky pink dress, a large slit showing off his figure. Husk forgot to breathe as Angel waved goodbye, blowing him a flirty kiss as he left to go clubbing. Husk could feel his eyes follow Angel as he left, finally letting out a breath.

I want you to be here

Husk waited awake every night until Angel would return, too stubborn to admit how much he missed the stupid, horny spider. He stayed up past his shift just to serve Angel a drink after a bad shift at the studio, tending to his injuries and wiping away his tears as they share long nighttime talks over a bottle of whiskey.

But please don't come near

Husk pushed away every interaction, pretending as if Angel was nothing more than a drinking buddy. Deflecting every flirt and compliment, locking his heart away in a safe.

Cause even though I'm pretty sure my heads exploding

He clutched his head, this time not a hangover headache but a headache from all the emotions that swirled around him, pain clutching from his denial.

Im not ready for hand-holding

Husk pushed away affection, Angels touch toxic to him in all the best ways. He craved it, but his stomach felt sick every time he thought about those hands on him, even if it was as little of a touch as just intertwined fingers.

It's not love, I swear

He told the mirror, a panicked expression on his face, convincing himself to stay unable to love, knowing he'd just get hurt in the end.

It might be closer to despair

Husk laid in bed, tears running into his pillow as he stared at the crack in the ceiling, trying to ease his mind and dull the ache in his heart. He wrapped his wings around himself, cringing as he imagined it was Angels found arms keeping him warm. He shook that thought away, because he wasn't in love.

He was just touch starved and despaired.
